Since couple days ago I have started to get Fastly's "Verifying Browser" crap when visiting the forum - seems to happen after x hours since the last visit (basically if I visit multiple times during the day I am likely to get it every time). That itself is not a huge problem as it passes fast but it being bright white is really annoying.

Could this be adjusted somehow?

I will pass your feedback along to the team.

On a "new" visit it also seems to be preventing the forum to load at all without refreshing when visiting on my phone using the default Samsung browser. It also appears to prevent loading new posts (posted while reading) in a thread, and editing posts without refreshing. When refreshing, the fastly loading screen is triggered again (all using the same phone), and then it works. Overall it just seems like it has made the user experience a lot worse.

At least I never experienced those issues before.

Is the Fastly thing something that's supposed to prevent spammers? Does not seem to work.

Fastly, Inc. is an American company based in San Francisco, which describes itself as a cloud computing company. Fastly provides content delivery network services, image optimization, and load balancing services. Fastly's cloud security services include denial-of-service attack protection, bot mitigation, and a web application firewall.

AI says:
Fastly is an edge cloud platform used by businesses to deliver fast, secure, and scalable digital experiences. It provides services like content delivery, security (including a web application firewall and DDoS protection), and real-time observability. Essentially, it helps websites and applications perform better by caching content closer to users and offering robust security features.

I've been thinking for a while now that what the forum could really do with is a *checks notes* 'edge cloud platform'.

This bit of CSS sort of works but it will affect the forums even after the loading screen. Quickly browsing around everything seems to be usable but I can't guarantee it. In Firefox you can add it to userContent.css - in Windows it is located in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profileIDname>\chrome

Create the file if it doesn't exist.

Code:
@-moz-document domain(forum.paradoxplaza.com) {
    BODY {
        background-color : #0F1220;
        color : #D8D8D8;
    }
}

I initially tried to limit the background color to DIV#pageContainer but unfortunately it is created by a script so it caused the page to flash white and then go dark which was worse least to my eyes. I tried to use Stylus addon which would make editing custom CSS easier but couldn't get it to work - though might be user error. No idea how to do any of this in Chrome based browsers.

Is the Fastly thing something that's supposed to prevent spammers? Does not seem to work.

Amusingly as I am writing this post the general forum is full of spam again so yeah, if the goal is to prevent bots PDX should ask for a refund. This just annoyings legitimate users and isn't very effective against bots.

Can you please remove this crap? It's loading almost each time I use the forum, and I do so multiple times a day and frankly it's driving me nuts! At first I thought I had got a virus! :mad:

I would complain about how the tracking scripts are now breaking my duckduckgo browser, but what's the point. Marketing evidently rules the internet these days, so please continue to ignore my privacy issues. I'll go back to a commercially friendly browser to check the forums.

Agree, the white-flash is getting obnoxious.

A bigger problem is the fact that fastly is ruining my posting. If I open a thread a don't post my reply or open the menu to get to "my threads" before either 1) 15-20 minutes or 2) my phone changes network, f.ex if I leave or enter a wifi vs 4G network, I get an error and need to reload the entire page. It happens several times a day and is extremely irritating.

I also get the fastly page often like 5-8 times an hour, as I often sit close to the reach of my wifi in the garden, and if the network changes, the fastly page reappears. Even if I don't change the network, the fastly page reappears every 20-30 minute.
