Feature request: battle formations

I am super hyped for the Giant Kings DLC, but once again I have noticed that the things I am looking forward to the most are the free changes that elevate the core gamplay like the siege rework.

One improvement I wish for is savable unit formations. As much as I enjoy manual combat, it can be a slog in later stages of a campaing. Once you got your army composition online, most battles start with very similar 1-2 turns where you just position your troops to create a front line and spread out buffs.
I would like to be able to position my units before combat starts and save a formation for each army to make this process a bit less tedious.

Yeah, especially industrial and high, they do need constant buffing in early stages

My experience has been that suggestion posts get buried/no replies

They look at those, but it's more like "+1 to UI rework" or "+2 to buff/nerf X unit/spell".

So, that stuff matters, but you are not alone, who has suggestions.

My experience is that 4-5 of my suggestions made it to the game one way or another. Without any reply in the suggestions tab.
The rating system is more for other players, as is the response option.

It would be nice if there was an option to have the auto combat AI only use the spells you pick as favorite spells. Some of the spells are really good and it would be nice if we could allow the auto combat AI to use them as often as possible instead of some random spells.

You might want to cap cost reductions to spells at 50-75%. And fix the bug of exsplosive manifestation getting 2x the discounts from the same discount type. Mana free spells is not very balanced.

I agree with a selection of spells for autobattle.

+1 for a specific spellbook for AI. But not from min maxing standpoint, but rather to deny access to certain spells.

Even if a "save formations" feature was off the cards, I'd definitely agree that a "unit deployment" or "setup" phase to place and rearrange your units before the battle begins proper would so damn handy.

I mean, I don't care how many you can set it to be able to cast (like, 3 or 4), but rather to block what's can't be cast at all.
