Just thought it would be cool if there were a feature to capture an image of a specific character, shield or family tree in the game for quick and easy posting to fan forums. Full-sized screenshots contain a lot of unnecessary information and require a lot of bandwidth.

Easy is a relative term. No matter how familiar you may be with image editing software, it still takes 5 minutes to stop what you are doing, fire up the program, load up the image, position the crop tool just right, copy, save, find the correct file format/palette, etc. :)

The Lazy Man's Guide of Editing Such Screenshots:

a)Open up Paint
b)Press "Select"
c)"Select" the desired zone
d)Copy the "selected" zone
e)Open up Paint
f)Paste the "selected" zone
g)Save

==> 10-15 seconds

Yeah, so hard to do... :rolleyes:

Sheesh, it was just a suggestion. Having worked in several usability labs with graphics professionals, what one might be inclined to think takes 15 seconds in reality takes a few minutes to do correctly (with the precision of an automated screen capture utility). You need to account for unpredictable variables like the extra time needed to stop what you are doing, shift to right-brain mode, familiarize yourself with the UI of the program you are using (unless you use Paintbrush every day, this takes at least 30-60 seconds), precision mousing is also time consuming -- it can take 15 seconds just to get one edge of the crop boundary where you need it.

What would take 15 seconds would be looking up and pressing the hotkey, then opening up the output directory to look at the resulting image.

Sometimes I can't help but wonder whether there is any point in posting here at all.

My point would be that while it might be handy for a few players a few times in a few games, there are probably other, IMO more important things to spend Johan/Bjering's time :)

Understood... it was just an idea to consider. If there is already image capture functionality in place, it should require minimal effort to tweak it to capture a smaller area depending on the hotkey...
