File OLEAUT32.DLL ???

Hello people.
Ive been trying for some time now to run EU2,but havn't been able to get very far without crashing.

System.
Celeron 400
128 Mb
Card Riva TNT2 M64

I don't think its the game as such,because ive recently done a little upgrading ,plus had my CPU repaired,and after reformating the whole hard drive ,the old PC's never been the same since.
Ive tried to get into EU2's settings ,so as to turn the music off,but I get this message:The file OLEAUT32.DLL'is out of date.This program requires a newer version.
Does this mean anything to anyone?
Does anybody know where I can get(Download) a newer version?
Because Im hopeing it's a software problem that can be fixed,and not some internal damage to any hardware.

search for the file on you hard drive(s). It should be in the EU2 directory as well as in Windows\System.

Right-click on the file to get the version# and post it here. The most recent file should be in Windows\System and you should rename the one in the game directory to OLEAUT32.OLD
 
usually, the one in your game folder should be the one it picks by default... Anyway, here are the instructions:
  1. Go to your game directory and right-click the file oleaut32.dll and select copy
  2. Navigate to your Windows\System directory
  3. Right-click on the file oleaut32.dll and select rename
  4. type oleaut32.dll.old and press enter
  5. Press CTRL+V at the same time (pasting)
  6. The good version of OLEAUT32.DLL should be there now, as well as the older version OLEAUT32.DLL.OLD
  7. Start the game, it should work now

when you installed Me, it overwrote the old dll file so that's why you don't have anymore problems. Besides I think it keeps a copy of every dll file that a software installation will overwrite.
 
Well ive solved the problem.
The file wasn't actually installed,but I found it.
Thanks for your help.
Ive got a feeling that the problem may be that my PC isn't fulling installing any software,so one thing leads to anyother,but there ya go.
