Tech Support,

I downloaded CK and DV from Gamersgate. After installation, I have a Crusader Kings folder located in my Paradox folder, just like normal. But I also have several files and folders located in my root C: drive, too. What are these for? Were they temp files, and can I delete them? Are they part of Gamersgate? Please advise. I attached an image of the files I'm talking about in my C: drive (see link).

The folders are the compressed versions of the games that you download from Gamersgate and install from. You may delete these folders, but if you ever uninstall the game and want to reinstall it you will have to download these folders again rather than just logging into Gamersgate and clicking install.

The other files I am not sure about. I certainly don't have them so they probably aren't important. At a guess I would say they have something to do with the downloading process and should have been removed at some stage but for some reason haven't. This could be completely wrong though.

Try viewing the files through a text editor like notepad this may give you some indication to their purpose. Alternatively you could change their file extensions to something like .old and see if everything still runs fine. This should give you a fairly good idea of whether they are useful or not.

The safest bet is just to leave them as they probably are only a few bytes each.
