Firewall

First of all.
I don't know if I have a firewall. And if I have one is that the reason I can't join games in valky and an IP.

If it's a firewall thats my trouble, how do I avoid my firewall

It's probably a firewall issue, in my experience. How do you connect to the Internet? Cable modem? DSL? University LAN? Which OS do you use? There's probably no way of avoiding the firewall, also in my experience.

A kind of. It's not a University. It's where I live. We are about 30 apartments that share the same server.

Hmmm, there's likely very little you can do, if, as I suspect, it's a firewall problem. You COULD ask the owner of the network to turn the firewall off, but I don't think they'll want to do that.
