The one mod I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on since launch was Firing Line Improvements. Now that we finally have official mod support, I figured it's time. Reading the comments on Nexus, it looks like it's been broken since the last patch. :(

Although it's not updated for 1.8 yet (as far as I know...), it's worth keeping an eye on "AIM - Attack Improvement Mod" which does some of the same and a *lot* more, and is highly configurable. It's also been included in most of the big mod packs, so there's a good chance someone will get it working for 1.8 before too long.

If you're talking about BTMLColorLOSMod, it is available here in my github: Red1812/BTMLColorLOSMod

thanks ever so much for updating that.
it so hard to deal with the vanilla LOS once you get used to functionality

No problem, I can't play without it either ^^
I've been maintaining it for BEXT but it is standalone. All credit goes to janxious of course, the only thing I added is the color change depending on which side you are attacking like in AIM (I even used the color from AIM :p) and a little refactor on patch 1.7.
