Hatchetman would be a very fun mech to start a campaign with......

Enemy Spider? Meet my flyswatter.....
A Spider should never be run down by a Hatchetman. That's gross negligence on the part of the Spider pilot. :D

The battlefield is a busy, busy place, ofttimes asymmetric and chaos-made-manifest...

...a tactically patient Hatchman MechWarrior, just may find the opportunity to take a Spider’s Head at that. : )

I said run down. Not ambushed :p

And it'll take more than just a head if it connects.

Take the Head and the Body will fall... and with Turn Order and Jump Je...

Hmm... I wonder if the Ax will be able to see use in a Jump Jet Attack?

Maybe damaged to the Harchetman from such a Jump Jet Attack could be halved?

Yeah, I like the sound of that. : )

We're talking about a pilot who gets into a Light 'Mech with no ejection system, right? It's not gross negligence, then, it's "suicidal business as usual".

Also, could be useful for getting that Hatchetman out where someone can give it a hug with an AC/20.

Begs the Question, do you tell your Spider pilot his name is "Bait" ala Decoy the pig Hostage? Or just let it be implied.
:)

I've actually been in this position and found that if they are your troops and you've had the time to train them well, then level with them... if they know your intent, they can handle the details.

But this is BATTLETECH, and if the MechWarrior's name is "Skippy" then even if the Enemy has superior Strength of Arms, the Enemy is always the Bait for Skippy's next act of martial legerdemain and intrepidity. : )

I don't use a Spider for that. I have a Griffin 1S which may or may not be a Valravn fangirl wanting to punch things to death.

I really need to pick the game back up again. Maybe after I finish writing about the Harbingers.

So much for that succession wars full fledged story expansion they were planning, apparently Paradox in their typical fashion will go the nickle and dime route with Battletech.

That is not how I see Flashpoint at all. It is an expansion with 3 new mechs (including one with a melee weapon), chained deployments each with a short story, and new game mechanics to boot. It also mentions valuable rewards and having to make critical decisions. Again, we don't know yet exactly what those might entail, but it hints that our decisions have consequences and that could mean additional story content as well.

Time will tell exactly how extensive the these short stories will be, however I feel that with what we know so far this early in the announcement, it is far from nickel and dime content.

It might not be as extensive as you would like, but then again, the game didn't launch that long ago. On the flip side though, I get the feeling that it is the right timing for some new content :).

P.S. I do not believe HBS has ever stated their exact plans for a post-launch expansion. The community has theorized it was going to be a 4th Succession War entry, but there was never a commitment to an exact time period or the extent/structure of an expansion. Again, a lot of that was fan speculation as far as I remember.

There is little to no evidence for this judgement. You can dislike Paradox's business model and thats fair but it allows for a long life-span for games that in fact offers a lot for BT since there is an expansive universe they can draw content from, I imagine first they'll be hammering out the finer points of the game before jumping into anything bigger.

Mitch and the others were always cagey about what the next plan was, only that it was not Clans.

My money is that they were holding their cards to their chest until they knew whether they were being bought by Paradox or not.
