so is modtek still going to be needed?
I could be wrong but I do not believe so. HBS has said that Mods will be loaded from within the game, so it sounds to me like the ModTek function will be something already taken cared of. A little over a day remains before we know for sure! : )

I'm playing Battletech Advanced 3062, its a nice half way house between vanilla and Roguetech. Quite a few mod mechs and QoL mods. Plenty new weps to play with...

I really recommend mission control mod and bigger lances the bigger lances mod lets you run 2 lances of mechs and mission control lets the AI have up to i believe its 12 mechs

a response from one of the modders who HBS have been testng with to might help clear this up? :)

I have a personal weapon mod that I will try to update for the Heavy Metal weapons. It reduces the optimal range of weapons so that long range penalties are more likely, short range weapons are less effective, and positioning is more important. I may even assemble it into something publishable rather than just kludging together something which works for me.

I would like to make an expanded crits mod, but that will take more time.

As it would honestly be my first mod used, question for the hive mind. Is there a mod that only, or can be set to only affect, changing initiative so that faster Heavy and Assault class mech's move in earlier phases, and of course inversely, slower lights and mediums move later?

For me it really depends on what exactly the "Mod Support" is. If it's better documentation for actual modders, awesome! If it utils/launcher features to allows the end user to more easily use mods (ie Modtek no longer needed!) even better. I'm wait and see. I have two installs. a Steam Install, and a Paradox launcher install. The steam install is going stay "Vanilla" mostly because steam can be a rather large pain in the butt to deal with at times. I'll use the more easily manipulated Paradox launcher install for mods.

But a full vanilla game play though first as I expect several of my favorite tools are going to need to be updated first, starting with the Arano campaign, and then a Career play through..and then my favorite thing to do which is unlocking flashpoints (ie: full game content) in an Arano Campaign playthrough.

I'll be watching what Hobbes does with his Hyades rim mod post HM, as tats in my mind about as much fun as you can have with the game and still have it be "vanilla" though in this case, perhaps more "French Vanilla bean!" with a nice chocolate and strawberry preserves topping!

kinda sorta right there with ya....though for me its steam that works better for mods and paradox launcher that stays vanilla or testing a single mod cuz its nothun but trouble

Tried today for the first time a mod, Navigational Computer, and I've fallen in love with it! :heart emoji:
Simply put, it allows the player to Shift-Click the route on the Star Map. :D

It does a few more things, but the ability to choose which systems to go through to my destination is so so sweet!

So basically it removes Darius's input from the route decisions? :D

depending on features needed by mods, modtek may still be needed from what I understand from some modders.

Lol, if the player wants to go to a system, say New Vandenberg, when clicking on it on the Star Map the game will automatically trace a route of jumps to get there; with this mod, the player can, using Shift+Click, make the route themselves. If you have the C-bills for it (unlikely unless you're on the third+ year of your Career), you can visit every other Taurian system before ending on New Vandenberg. :D

I think that, Career-wise, the player won't likely have the cash required to take a longer route anywhere until a third of the game; when I got the mod, I was on my last 220 days so my wallet was filled enough to visit more systems than the game set when I needed to cross the Cappellan territory to start their Alliance FP. It certainly can help with visiting systems to get a better score, like when going to the system where Yang's FP is set, as there are two other systems right next to it, so that with this mod you can visit them on the way. :)

It's a good mod, my 2nd fav after "PanicSystem"... is the version on nexusmods fixed now?

Not yet, I will need to upload a verison that supports the new Heavy Metal way of doing things.

It seems to be somewhat different. I will get on the case soon.
