Are the decisions in the very first quest supposed to impact the battle or reward? I didn't realise anything, did others realise effects, if you kill the archers, or if you get arrested or if you free the soldiers or not?

Did you check your morality? I noticed a distinct movement to rightful after a series of actions that included freeing the soldiers.
