Not sure where I should post this, but others might have the same problem I did and end up in here 
I have just installed a new MB with only 2 RAM slots so I could only fit in 1GB of RAM using my old modules.
I previously went without virtual memory altogether, but when EU:Rome crashed during load I realized I had to increase the virtual RAM.
Simple fix for my problem, so if the game crashes for you during load (or maybe even during the game), try it.
Insufficient RAM and no virtual memory is a bad combo when launching PI games
