I was having problems connecting to MP games on Valkyrienet despite having 1.05c and no firewall or router. I fixed the problem by installing the C.O.R.E mod version .5 then updating it to .532 via the patches. But this most likely wont fix the problem, its just good to have "just in case" the real culprit seems to be the Windows XP built in Firewall, turn it off before connecting to MP games. To do this ...

1. Click the start menu and go to the "Settings" tab
2. Select "Network Connections"
3. Find your internet connection, if you have DSL/Cable and are not on a home LAN then it should be the only connection listed. The picture will be in color if you are connected.
4. Right click it and selected properties.
5. Make sure all File/Printer sharing is off, and NetBUI is off, if its not in the list then dont worry about it.
6. Click "Advanced" tab, then uncheck the firewall checkbox. Click ok.
7. Turn it back on after playing HOI.

Hope this helps.

Plus the firewall is on by default. It is on unless you specifically turn it off. Normally is doesn't cause a problem, but for some reason it doesn't work with HOI multiplayer.

The firewall makes the ports HoI use unaccessable.

MegaPIMP, you should check wether your ISP modem actually is a router. Mine is, and you will have to configure that one to. Try run "telnet 10.0.0.1" or something. You should forward all ports to your router (the one your pc's is connected to), which usually have the adress 10.0.0.2 in the ISP router.
