AI never builds training grounds

I think it must be an AI problem that makes it think training grounds are not worthwhile. When you check the AIs provinces, you'll notice none of them has a training ground.
Right now, everytime before I pass one of my demesne provinces to a vassal I build a TG in it because I know they wont build one.

Yupp correct. I played from 1066 to 1100. Not a single traininh ground in whole of Irland, Scotland, England or Norway or any other provinces I checked.

Of course the damn thing CTD on me.... (1.01)

i played quite a few games up to mid 13.ct. and i had never seen the ai build castles and other stuff even if they don't know what to do with all the money, since they sometimes paid me 30000-60000 ducats in peace treaties

SUGGESTION: The Games Money problems

One of the major problems with the game in my opinion is that the ai seldom builds anything and keeps massive stocks of gold around for no purpose.
Would be better if:
1. They started building improvements once a certain level was reached.. ie 500 count level 100 Duke, 1500 King
and then started building improvements unless at war till the gold level was reduced to the level.

the ai doesn't build money-costing improvements, if u want him to build, change te improvement effects so that any building grants +1% gold and the world is a grand construction site

it is simply an ai bug, they don't invest in income reductive improvements. anything that reduces income won't be built.

Yep very frustrating, put this one under game balance though because tweeking up or down can have the ooposite effect. If we make the AI builders we might get uber provinces. I would say yes to making them build more if there was some feature that allowed for province improvements to eb destroyed during seiges.

It gets absolutely ridiculous when a county has ben plagued by thieves, smugglers and bandits for decades, yet the AI fails to build a court of justice. But I believe that the problem is known already.

My current practice when I take a county is to keep it in my domain for a few years, build everything the AI won't build, then grant this upgraded province to a vassal. Hardly an historical scheme.

I do the same thing, build it up then give it to a vassal. It is known, but this is one of the game balance issues that has a large scope. Right off the bat if the AI dosent build castles, training grounds it has a disadvantage against a human opponent. I dont want to make the AI unbeatable but Dukes ought to be building castles in thier home demense and at the very least roads and road networks.

If the AI dosent build more it dosent stay at the same level as the human player, that makes for an easy game when you DOW, and thats a problem.

Wow, first time I merge two threads ! It looks like I get it right :D

krispin, capital letter word in the title of the thread are reserved to moderators to assess the status of the bug. Please, don't use them (like your "SUGGESTION").

Also, before posting a bug, could you use the Search tool to see if you will not create a duplicate (in this case, I search for "building" on the bug forum, and immediately find the original thread).

This will help us and then Paradox to keep track of the bugs, and not waste time investigating duplicates. :)

Other than that, thanks for reporting :)

Cheers,

Cat

I know it is a bug, but it is also a type of feature that slows down expansion because the player has to pause for a couple of years to invest the gold in basic construction projects. I agree with Odin that if the AI is set loose on all available construction projects players will inherit uber provinces. But at the very least they should be constructing training grounds, courts and upgraded castles in capitals.

At the moment the game is WAY TOO EASY.. please make the AI build... then i might be able to play at something less than very hard or risk occasionally loosing a battle

I can see a point in the AI not building royal posts/grand palaces, as this would help the mad, expansionist player quite a lot while not really providing much benefit to the AI. However, training grounds and courts of justice should be built by the AI at all times, and expanding castles should perhaps be made a priority, for reasons already mentioned.

in my games, the duke of Flanders (heir to the king of Leon) has 18.000 gold on his piggybank, but didn't build much in his reign,
