I can load Magicka 2, but after about a minute the game freezes and steam shuts down completely. No error message, the game just...stops.

I bought 2 Magicka, but then downloaded the pirated version to play with my friend, a licensed copy fails with to play a pirate. This I did, to persuade him to buy the game. But now the statistics of my profile has changed and when I change the licensed version of it, for example, heal yourself or nanoshu damage everyone, the game crashes without a mistake. What can do? Help, please. 
*Update* with the new patch live I uninstalled and reinstalled again making sure everything is up to date. still freezes after a minute or so of running then closes itself and steam.
I use Norton antivirus, but it wasn't the issue.
Whatever steps were taken on your guys' end has caused my game to start working. I've been able to play without pause or incident all evening.
