Flashing screen

Hi

I just bought the game with the Deus Vult expantion 2.0 on gamersgate, downloaded it and installed it. Let me just say the I love this expantion the interface is so clear and easy to use. Everything loads correctly but there is one problem. The screen flashes and there doesn't seem to be any sound (except the intro movies seem to work fine).

The game may be trying to launch in a resolution which your videocard and/or monitor do not support.

Open settings.txt in notepad and change the two resolution numbers to something like 1024x768, then see if DV launches.

And no, there is no search button.

Well actually my video card if you saw my specs can support 1280 by 800 and I currently use the default setting!

Well about the sound problem I seem to have sound fx but not the actual music (and the files are all there).

Have you tried different resolutions though?
Are you trying to run the game windowed?

Yes I have tried different resolutions, even reinstalling the game, and I haven't lunched in window mode (how can you do that?). Plz take note I haven't applied any mods or anything, it's a fresh install. This is the only game on my comp that is doing that (and I just ran C&C3 this morning).

Try and rename your avi folder to avi.old.

Any programs running in the background, like musicmatch? Virusscanner?

Thats what I thought first that it was doing that because i had other applications in the background, so I closed every window open in my desktop.

I think I forgot to mention that the loading screens don't flash only in the gme menu and the in the game itself.

I did what you told me, I rename the avi folder to avi.old. Now the movies don't appear, but it doesn't help.

open your taskmanger and check which programs that are running. Programs don need to be open in a window for be running.

Open your taskmanager and end process called MMDiag.exe. That stopped the flashing for me.

doesn't seem to work either, this is just frustrating because I played before with a copy of a friend to crusader kings and everything worked fine. Thats what made me buy it and the expansion.

Yes, please if someone finds out what the problem was becuase this is not only for Cruader Kings, but for Victoria and EU 2....
It all is affected by this flicker and no music. >< Unbearable
I was able to play fine but suddenly after another day my game started flickering! it is something that goes wrong at the loading stage of the game I can tell you that!

Well I fixed it, but it was only after doing a system restore....
This problem was extremely annoying... a system restore should be the eighth thing on the list of things paradox recommends..
