I downloaded CK2 for Mac just this morning and it runs totally fine, save for one minor graphical issue: the edges of the map, all characters on the map (soldiers, advisors, etc), cities and all shields/flags on the map flicker between black and colored. Is this a driver issue? If so, can you explain - in the most basic, computer impaired language possible :) - how to update my drivers? Or is it something else that is more easily fixable?

Hi I've downloaded it as well from Steam but it doesn't run... I quit right after the "loading graphics" screens ? Did you encountered similar problem ?

I'm also having the flickering problem. It only appears at the edge of the "board" and for coats of arms on the map, but it's pretty annoying. I'm running a MacBook Pro 5,1 (dual core 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with either an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT (switchable). I've tried both graphics cards and various graphics settings. No luck so far.

I am also currently having to run it by double-clicking the ck2 app inside the package of the game rather than by using the launcher, which is currently defective. I'm hoping that may account for the graphics issue.

yeah, those are exactly (or close to) my specs as well - i'll check later, i'm currently trying to get the game to work on a different (PC) computer.

however, another mac problem i've been having (and the reason why i've switched to trying it out on an old PC i have laying around) is that at seemingly arbitrary times, the game freezes, with only the cursor able to move. i don't know how to minimize it and there is no way to force quit the game, so i have to do a manual shut down which, i'm sure, is horrible to do repeatedly. i thought it happened only when running the game at extra high speeds, but it happened twice in a short time at medium speeds as well. a quick perusal of the forum tells me it may be an overheating issue, but has anyone else been having this particular problem?

I have a couple of questions:
1. Is anyone from Paradox actually reading this?
2. What versions of the Mac OS are people who are experiencing this problem using? I'm using 10.6.8 with all updates installed.

same. i'm sure people are reading this - paradox is a good company, i'm confident these things will be addressed soon(ish).

1. Hope so.. :) as it is pretty annoying with all the flickering.
2. Im on the same version. 10.6.8.

It's hard to believe that this was released with the launcher and flickering issues. You would think that this was tested before release?
1. NVIDIA GeForce 9400
2. version 10.6.8

I also hope that this is addressed very soon.

Performance wise on the 320m not very good... I tried once to be the HRE raised the entire army and it lagged like crazy with the flickering.

Hopefully it could be fixed.

I am having the same problems, but am wondering if there is a way to turn down the graphics. I do not mind if the armies and shields are less shiny.

Yup, I'm experiencing some rather annoying flickering here too. The map borders and all the 3D objects (buildings, piers, etc.) flicker constantly. I'm running the Steam version on Mac OS 10.6.8, with nVidia 8600m graphics.

From the comments in this forum it seems that many (perhaps all?) Mac users, using specifications provided by Steam, GG, and Paradox are having this problem. The product we purchased does not appear fit for purpose, in my mind, but perhaps they are working on a remedy.

Indeed, it seems that a vast majority of the Mac users are experiencing the same problem: flickering graphics and chronic lag, despite meeting the requirements (mostly) posted by Paradox.

I myself have a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chip, running off of a 4-ish yeah old 13" MacBook on 10.6.8.

EDIT: Looking at the system requirements on Steam, apparently an NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or higher is required, yet I could've sworn last time I looked (a few days ago) it was a 9400 required...
