I just installed HOI2 yesterday and though the game seems to run fine, the screen flickers and flutters constantly. The game is still playable but this is very annoying. Any possible solutions to the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, turn off everything running in the background on your computer.

Some old graphics cards have problems with HOI2, I mean really really old ones :p Try updating the drivers. :)

Okay welcome to support forum.

This problem is definately caused by something you have running in the background.

Largest culprits are Music Match, (make sure MM.exe is shutdown in the process tab)
and Virus protection programs, but anything that tries to access the main window to update can do it.

That sounds possible but I cant find ANY programs running. However, I did uninstall the game and while re-installing I got a CRC ERROR window that said: The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted/ contact your software vendor. The only way to continue the installation is to choose to ignore it. No change in the way the game runs (flickering).

Have you ever installed music match?
Do you have any virus protection?

Most likely, those things are tricky to totally get rid of.

What about the music Match question?
Also What icons are in your system tray?

Yes I do have Musicmatch. I make sure that my system tray is empty when I start the game though.

Should I uninstall music match then?

You just need to stop the MM.exe under the process tab everytime before playing (if you want to keep Music match installed.)
