This graphical glitch is currently plaguing me. All the threads on the issue I could find dated back to around 2014, and none of the solutions proposed within them worked. I edited the resolution setting in the text files, turned off all of my mods and expansion, and the issue didn't go away. I only just reinstalled the game, and I immediately reverted it to version 2.8.3.4 so I could use the CK2+ mod.

Help?

Are you saying this problem only happens when you do that?

Does this only happen with the CK2+ mod in use, or also in vanilla?

When you go back game versions you need to delete the Documents/paradox/ck2/ folder so the older game version can make it as it needs to.

I've launched the game with and without the CK2+ mod active, didn't make any difference. I also went ahead and reinstalled it again, and I deleted the CK2 folder in its entirety beforehand, but it didn't fix it.

But only when you go back to 2.8.3.4, are you saying?

Went back to the current version to check, not getting the floating faces there. In the previous version, whenever I clicked on the Umayyads in the 769 bookmark I got a bunch of dudes with floating faces, didn't get that in the current version. But CK2+ isn't compatible with the newest version yet, so anyone have any fixes so that I can play using CK2+ without being plagued by changelings?

Try:
Unselect HolyFury DLC in the launcher before you revert to 2.8x.
I recall a bug in 3.0 with Horse lords and some portrait DLC and floating faces
and read of an issue of HL and its portraits not being turned off automatically when reverting to an older patch.

I went back into steam and uninstalled the Holy Fury DLC, and the problem went away, so thank you, you were right on the money. The game was, in fact, trying to apply the content of the DLC somehow despite the difference in version.
