Afternoon to everyone.

Just played a few hours of the demo, and whilst I've plenty of questions and thoughts I may add to a relevant topic, one thing seems to have missed notice. Then again, it is pretty minor in the midst of an awesome looking game.

Fog of War.

From previous developer videos I seem to remember it in, I presume FoW has been turned off in the demo to show off the AI waging war and whatnot?

Maybe it was just me, but I certainly got lost in a sea of Japanese sprites with "750" written beneath them...

Otherwise, (preemptive) thanks for another cracking game Paradox :)

With the frequent wars, provinces being yours as soon as you take them, plots, vassals breaking free, no military access etc, we deemed that fog of war was more a hindrance than a feature and decided to leave it out of this game.

Well I have to say thats pretty disappointing... It makes it much harder to move your units strategically and outmanoeuvre enemies in a war, especially in multiplayer.

It actually makes sense if you think about it, information wasn't that hard to aquire on moving armies, everybody spoke the same languages, and with all the fighting and ronins everywhere there should be plenty of sources to get news from.

Well, then you don't take into account other factors to bear in mind. Even though they speak the same dialect, information could flow all around the island along with the frecuent wars, it's the 15th century, which it means that news would take weeks or even months to go from one side to the other of the island, the sources weren't very reliable unless were someone hired by you and full-trusted, etc.

I think this should be pondered, by it's a late stage of the game dev, so looks like no fog of war at all.

Regards

Would it be possible to add FOW later and add a small checkbox in the option menu?
