Greetings Comrades, men, servants of your country! Today I have something special for you. An exercise in alternate history. What if, after the Vienna dictate, Romania joined the Comintern to take back Transylvania? We will be taking the helm of the young nation of Romania, and beating back the Hungarian, German, and Italian armies while providing assistance to the Soviet Union by covering their southern border, and keeping the Hungarians busy!

A little History for those interested: Historically in 1936, Carol II, king of Romania, was pro-neutrality, and was enacting democratic reforms. However he was overthrown in a coup after Hungary was given Transylvania in 1940, and replaced with authoritarian leadership. Romania joined the axis and aided Germany in the invasion of the soviet union. Lending over 1.1 million troops. Eventually Romania was pushed back to it's Eastern frontier, and when the Russians marched across the border, Romania switched sides, and pushed the Germans back out of Yugoslavia. It would remain a Warsaw pact puppet regime until 1990.

Rules: 1. No Factions will be joined until after the Vienna Dictate. Although I can align myself to a faction if I wish.
2. A historical path will be followed until the Vienna Dictate.
3. Difficulty will be on Normal, and all factors will be directly controlled by me.

Primary Objectives: 1. Regain control over Transylvania after it is annexed by Hungary
2. Defend Romanian Sovereignty by any means necessary

Secondary Objectives: 1. Defend the Soviet Union from German Invasion
2. Annex Bulgaria to secure Romanian dominance in the Balkans
3. Liberate Yugoslavia and Greece from axis slavery if possible

I hope you enjoy!

We start of in 1936 with a pitiful Industrial capacity of 19, 26 divisions, some of which will have no chance of standing up to modern infantry, and 10 HQ's. Most of which we will disband when we reorganize. We start off with 198 manpower, which won't get us very far when it comes to reinforcement or recruitment.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%202.jpg

We will start by sending all our units to Brasov, and reorganizing the army there. We will delete all the HQ's except for the Romanian high command, which will be relocated to Bucuresti. We will also prepare for war, reducing our neutrality significantly.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%204.jpg

Romania%20AAR%20scrn%203.jpg

With that out of the way, we can begin reforming our political and manufacturing structure to better suit out needs. We will enact specialist training to better prepare out troops, and we will focus our production on upgrades. Even with no production underway, we don't have enough Industrial Capacity to fully upgrade our units.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%205.jpg

We will no redistribute our troops and reorganize our chain of command. Romania is surrounded by enemies. and we must choose where to distribute our limited troops carefully. It is likely we can expect early assault by Bulgaria, and possibly German Yugoslavia once we declare war. The Hungarian border will also be guarded, and it is where we will place our single tank division. Our lines are stretched dangerously thin.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%206.jpg

We have divided into two theaters. Northern Romania and Southern Romania. Northern Romania will be our current borders with Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Soviet Union. Southern Romania will be our current borders with Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%207.jpg

With the theaters in place, we will finish this startup section by developing our chain of command. There will be Three armies. One on the Bulgarian border, one on the Yugoslav border, and one on the Hungarian border. The Bulgarian border Army will have 2 corps, the Yugoslav border army will have 3 corps, and the Hungarian border army will have 2 corps. Making a total of 26 divisions into 7 corps, into 3 armies, into 2 theaters.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%208.jpg

The last thing we will do before June is begin aligning to the Comintern, as the Soviet Union has the greatest chance of benefiting our nation in the near future. We will also enact basic Mobilization, and producing infantry, one division at a time most likely. Finally we will invest in infantry and artillery technology, will will benefit us during the onslaught of the axis hordes.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%209.jpg

Thank you to those who watched, and we will see you in June of 1936!

Nice to see another minor alternate history AAR! These problems are familiar to a minor player (as you know I am doing with Turkey right now) and I will be interested to see how you go. Romania has quite a large army by regional standards but, as you say, has some long borders to defend. Especially when the grasping Axis octopus begins to spread its evil tentacles throughout Central Europe and the Balkans . Best of luck, I'll be following with interest :). Long live the Peoples' Republic (?) of Romania!

PS: you should announce your AAR on the HoI3 AAR library thread. Don't know if it does any good, but any publicity is good publicity I guess.:D

Thank you for the suggestion. I followed it up with a quick post in the library. And a democratic peoples republic is what I am aiming for haha. I intend to follow up this section sometime tonight, and will quickly round out 1936.

June 1st, 1936
Greetings comrades. Welcome back to the front. This will be a low point where I will cover military build up until either the end of the year, or mid-1937. Perhaps even until the anschluss if nothing too eventful happens. I began construction of three infantry divisions. Two with an Artillery support brigade, and one with an anti-tank support brigade.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2010.jpg

As you can see, we are very much lacking reinforcements, and the capacity for upgrades. They will have to gradually be met in small increments until the Capacity for them is reached. Rare materials will also be an issue, as Romanian territory is lacking in them. After reinforcement needs were met and our Industry was under control, we enacting the War Economy and Three Year Draft laws. The civilians will require a larger chunk of our IC, but in the long run it will be worth it.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2011.jpg

The three infantry divisions were deployed on October 9th. Two including the anti-tank division were deployed to the 5th corps on the Northern Yugoslav border, the other was deployed to the 2nd corps on the East Bulgarian border. Taking advantage of the temporary Industrial break, we put much of our IC into upgrades, and commissioned the construction of two submarines to protect our ports in the Black Sea from the Regia Marina.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2012.jpg

May, 1937: The status of our current divisions is miserable. Most are simply composed of Three infantry brigades. It has been decided that due to limited manpower and Industrial Capacity, it would be best to spend out resources not constructing new divisions, but strengthening the ones we have. We currently have 18 divisions that lack support brigades. We will construct 12 artillery brigades, and 6 anti-tank brigades to reinforce and strengthen our divisions.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2013.jpg

We can only hope this will be enough. We have kept our infantry tech up to date so far, and are catching up fast with artillery. We should be at least on par with the Italians, though that isn't saying much. In other news, Imperial Japan made a declaration of war on Nationalist China on Midnight, August 8th, and signed an agreement with the German Reich. Thankfully, unlike the other allies of Hitler, they are too far away to cause us any problems in the long run.
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2014.jpg

Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2015.jpg

The two submarines were finally constructed, and added to the Romanian Navy on December 30th.
Final 1937 Overview:
Minor build up of Romanian Army
Reorganization of the army
Borders with possible enemies manned
Aligning towards the Comintern
Japan has Declared war on China and Joined the Axis Powers
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2016.jpg

Nationalist Spain has succeeded in subduing Republican Spain:
Romania%20AAR%20scrn%2017.jpg

That's it for this part. Join us next time, and things will get a bit more exciting in 1938 as the war in China intensifies, the anschluss occurs, and the treaty of Munich is signed by Adolf Hitler overseen by Neville Chamberlain. Meanwhile, Carol II will desperately try and get the situation in Romania under control, as we hasten our military build up, and painstakingly attempt to keep up with the axis powers technologically. Meanwhile, the rise of fascism leads to the fascists taking up half of the Romanian parliament, while Carol II attempts to maintain his democratic ideals.

Comments are always appreciated! Thank you!

Good luck wih romania, always a fun country to play

To the Fans: Too those of you still following, thank you very much. It has been a long week, and the upload period should be much quicker over the next week. I'll have the next part up shortly.

January 1st: 1938:
Gentlemen, today marks a new year for Romania. Our industry has been readied, our forces positioned, and our factories working to pump out artillery and arms for our men.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%201.jpg

As 1938 progresses, we hope to continuously expand our armed forces, and to prepare for heavy axis assault in the years to come. Of course we have not neglected our research either:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%202.jpg

Our infantry tech must be up to far with Germany's if we can ever hope to survive the coming conflict. Our manpower must be expanded as well, or we will never be able to reinforce our positions. We also make steady progress towards the Comintern:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%203.jpg

Hopefully Germany's ministers will not corrupt our administration, bribing them over to their side. Speaking of the devil, in Mid-May, German administration formally took control of Austria, and the former great Hapsburg empire, has been fully integrated into the German Reich.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%204.jpg

This gives them a good 20 more IC or so. In other words, the situation isn't looking good for the enemies of Hitler's Reich. Of course as dangerous as the German War Machine is, I am far more worried about it's potential allies at the moment. Bulgaria, Hungary, and Italy will be much closer threats once the inevitable German Invasion of the Soviet Union rolls around. Japan, luckily, should be kept fairly busy in China, as their offensive seems to have stalled for about a month halfway down the coast:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%205.jpg

Of course being the Japanese, they always have several naval landings up their sleeves. I also decided to devote most of our Leadership to Industrial research this year, as keeping our industry kicking and screaming even as it's being bombed to hell by BF-109's will be key to our survival in the long term.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%206.jpg

It is also my pleasure to say that the Bulgarian border is the first to be fully garrisoned with divisions with artillery support brigades. Being the weakest axis power in proximity, it is likely we will subject Bulgaria to any possible Romanian offensive if such possibility arises.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%207.jpg

September 10th, 1938: The Treaty of Munich was signed between Germany, France, and The U.K. today. Prime minister Neville Chamberlain called it an assurance of peace in our time. At any rate, they'll have to stop appeasing the Fuhrer at some point. Next thing you know Premier Lebrun will be ceding all of France to Germany.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%208.jpg

Though this turn of events is unsettling, we have two points which count for good news in these times. The first is that we received our first invitation to the Comintern. I declined, as the situation has not yet escalated to where it is necessary. The Second is that the artillery support brigades which will guard the southern half of our borders against the Bulgarian and Italian soldiers is finished, and we have begun production on anti-tank support brigades and mountaineer support brigades for the Yugoslav border, which will be finished by the end of 1939.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%209.jpg

After that we can hopefully begin adding some more full divisions up north to hold the Hungarians back when their borders inevitably expand. We might also be able to add an interceptor squadron or two the the Royal Romanian Air Force.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2011.jpg

The year has however come to an end. And the Japanese have continued making gains in China after a brief stalemate.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2010.jpg

The Romanian army continues to grow however, and we will never be cowed by any oppressive madman whose grenades are two big for their under-garments! Whether it be Hitler, Mussolini, or Hirohito in the event he pushes through the Raj and the Middle East just to take a crack at us, we will never give up! We will never surrender! If the Eiffel Tower flies the swastika, if Buckingham palace burns to the ground, even if the Kremlin has a Panzer crash through Stalin's personal office, we will stand strong against any invader!
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2012.jpg

Until next time. Long live the King! May Carol II lead his people to glory against the Fascist hounds!

Long live the King! That mention of "grenades in the undergarments" had me smiling and thinking of those wartime songs that mocked the fascists :D. Also of some fruity extensions of the metaphor I thought should be left unsaid in a public forum, for the sake of decorum ;):p:D!!

It's good to know my rather history based sense of humor can amuse somebody these days. Romania will hopefully live long. Also I seem to remember you saying in your turkey AAR something about going down in a pile a Messer Schmidt BF 109s and panzer. Which may very well happen.

Yes, given we've both decided to go with Uncle Joe, I'm looking at all my current gains as future German fiefdoms. But we can have our fun while it lasts!

Think that Queen song: "Just waiting for the hammer to fall"! :D

Indeed. Of course Turkey has a fair amount of time with Greece and Bulgaria Annexed before the Germans can reach Ankara, along with the Bosporus to cross. Romania is surrounded on three sides by the axis juggernaut. I'll try and have the next part up tonight. I imagine things will heat up fairly quickly in 1939...;)

January 1st, 1939...
Greeting Comrades. Carol II was long fearful of the invincible axis juggernaut, but was truly afraid of Soviet intervention should he pick a side. This led to him eventually being overthrown in a coup in 1940. In 1939, the cards will be dealt to Romania. This is the year of decision. The year Europe will be enveloped in flames as the goosestepping invaders march across a burning Europe. Let's get started shall we?
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2013.jpg

January of 1939 is a quiet month in Europe, while the fighting continues to rage on in China. On January 30th, the Chinese government sends a Peace bid to Japan, who readily accepts only to begin mobilization again. The Chinese Coastline is ceded. Another victory for the axis powers.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2014.jpg

Things were quiet until March, when Germany send troops into Czechoslovakia. There was outcry throughout Europe, as Germany annexed Bohemia, created a slovakian puppet state, and ceded Ruthenia to Hungary. Italy immediately followed up by annexing Albania. The pitiful nation never stood a chance. In response, the United Kingdom has put Poland under the protection of the allies. Although we all know how much good that will do them...
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2015.jpg

Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2016.jpg

One thing is for sure. Romania's border with it's Hungarian Nemesis has just gotten 2 provinces longer. And that's two provinces we don't have the divisions to defend at the moment. The populace holds it's breath praying the Romanian industry can keep up with Hungary's. We can only hope that having to split it's troops between the Soviet and Romanian border will be too much of a strain for Hungary.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2017.jpg

On April 6th, Australia became the first British Commonwealth nation to join the Allied powers:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2018.jpg

16 days later, the Pact of Steel was signed between Germany and Italy, and the Rome-Berlin Axis came into being. I imagine Albania will be a large problem once the war starts, as the Italians will use it to flood the Balkans with troops.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2019.jpg

Back to the Magyar issue however, it seems my luck might hold, as Hungary seems to be having just as much trouble reinforcing it's borders:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2020.jpg

However on July 26th, 1939, Hungary joined the axis powers aligning itself with Hitler's Reich. It is a dark day for Romania and it's people. As many fear that Hungary will use Germany's diplomatic influence to secure Transylvania for itself...
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2021.jpg

On August 7th, 1939, the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was signed between Germany and the Soviet Union. It is a double edged sword. On one hand, it means the Germans have more land to cut through until it reaches Moscow. On the other, Poland is being further abandoned by the major powers to it's fate.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2022.jpg

On August 9th, Hitler gave the mobilization order. Humorously enough, the Admiral Horthy began relocating Hungarian divisions away from my border to guard against the Poles.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2023.jpg

August 31st was a quiet day in Europe. In Poland, border guard was going through daily routine, and watching checkpoints. In Germany however, there was a massive military buildup on the Polish border that had been going on over the past 2 weeks. One of Germany's heavy cruisers had dropped anchor outside the port of Danzig. Danzig, the city nobody would go to war over, or at least that's what Herr Hitler thought...
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2024.jpg

20:00, September 1st, 1939: Early in the morning, German troops dressed in Polish uniforms attack and kill the operatives in a radio station on the German side of the border. In mock outrage, Hitler demands retribution. A heavy cruiser docked outside of Danzig opens fire on the city. Decimating the Port and destroying the tiny Polish navy within minutes. Without even making a declaration of war, German panzers race across the Polish border opening fire on Polish defensive positions. The Schutzstaffel make quick work of any remaining Polish personnel. Britain, France, Oman, Yemen, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa all declare war on Germany as well.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2025.jpg

The Germans advance quickly, and within 5 days they have pushed deep into Poland. Danzig however, despite Naval and Air bombardment, manages to hold out for an impressive 16 days against German assault.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2026.jpg

Warsaw however, is not so lucky. On September 24th, just 2 days after the Germans reach Warsaw, the city falls, and the country capitulates, it's leadership fleeing into exile. The country is split between Germany and the Soviet Union.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2027.jpg

October 12, 1939: Germany invades Denmark. As dawn breaks, the Wehrmacht thrusts into Holstein, the Danish troops proving no match for the Germans.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2028.jpg

On October 22nd, all of Jutland is under German Occupation:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2029.jpg

Early morning on November 4th, Denmark surrenders after the fall of Copenhagen, and is occupied by the German military.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2030.jpg

The rest of November was quiet. On December 1st, Sinkiang joined the Comintern. On December 2nd, the Soviet Union declared war on Finland for Karelia, deeming the borders too close to Leningrad.
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2031.jpg

Also, if anyone knows any history behind this little panhandle into the USSR here that the mouse pointer is on, I'd love to hear about it in the comments:
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2032.jpg

Oddly enough, the front lines do not move at all for 6 days into the war, until the Unthinkable happens. The Finns push into the Soviet Union!
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2033.jpg

Even stranger, the luck of Field Marshall Mannerheim holds! The Finns continue to push into Northern Karelia 1 province at a time even once the dawn of the New Year breaks. This makes me wonder if I should reconsider my choice of ally...
Romania%20AAR%20Day%202%20scrn%2034.jpg

Well, that was the end of 1939. And what a year it has been. Thankfully, the border with Hungary has been fully garrisoned, support brigades and all. I'm left second guessing the USSR. I'm hoping it was just an AI quirk and they declared war with all of their forces on the border with Germany, Hungary, me, and the Baltics, and just didn't garrison the Finnish border before declaring war. Still, can you blame me for being cautious?
Join us next time, as the day of decision approaches King Carol II...

Well, things are now in motion: and even weaker than normal SU would be bad news. Hopefully it can use the Winter War to buff itself a bit - if it can get off its sorry butt and actually take its objectives in Finland! At least it all means you have some more time to rearm ... though will you risk not joining the Comintern once Germany finishes its rampage through the West but before it takes on the Soviets? Hitler might not give you the luxury of a choice to stab the Axis in the back once they are fully engaged in Russia. I await how it will unfold and King Carol responds with interest :)

Yes. There is always the chance Hitler will influence romania in his direction. In which case I either have to bend, or quickly declare on Germany to stop the influence.

Yes. There is always the chance Hitler will influence romania in his direction. In which case I either have to bend, or quickly declare on Germany to stop the influence.
I was actually mainly thinking of the Me 109s and Panzers:eek: if you weren't already in the Comintern, kinda like Yugoslavia and Greece in 1941. But political influence too ;)

The stage is set, soon the war to determine the fate of europe will engulfthe east as well.

I doubt anyou preemptive invasion by the Germans into romania. It's never a move I've seen the AI make before. However, crazier things have happened in paradox games:rolleyes:

January 1st, 1940:
There is a certain calm across Europe. Denmark and Poland lay quiet. The smoldering ruins of Warsaw the only real evidence of German incursion, while Denmark may as well have never been touched. Up North, the winter war continues on in the cold, harsh winter of Northern Russia. Meanwhile, Carol II in Bucharest sits. He sifts through his options, as his neighbors to the North and South eye his country hungrily, thinking of their losses from the Great War...
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%201.png

With Germany running amok, what is there to stop the rest from reclaiming their losses?
We open on our country in the Balkans. Our borders lightly garrisoned as always. Nothing but an interceptor squadron, and an Infantry division in our production lines:
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%202.jpg

It's looking to be a worrying year for the Romanian people. And well, I'm truly shocked. It's February first. And the the front lines in Finland have not changed one bit. I expected the Russians to gain an advantage over the Finns by now. It's quite worrying to say the least.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%203.jpg

The Russians didn't make any gains until march. Meanwhile, it's March 7th. And Germany thankfully kicked things off in the West early. Werserumburg hasn't started in Norway yet either. Which isn't good. I was counting on it to stretch German supply lines a little, and force them to garrison Norway.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%204.jpg

Well, the Germans declared war on Norway on March 8th, but it wouldn't be for another 16 days before they make a successful landing on the southern tip of the country. Meanwhile, the Russians finally make some significant gains in Finland.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%205.jpg

It takes them until the end of the month to create a stable front line. They have already reached Oslo however, and I imagine it wall fall by the end of the week.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%206.jpg

Well, by the end of the week, Oslo surprisingly hasn't fallen, but another, possibly more important city has: Luxembourg. On April 3rd, the Reich began it's assault on the Western Front. Luxembourg fell in the first day. No word on Belgium and the Netherlands yet. Though the Germans have gained some ground in Southern Norway.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%207.jpg

April 15th, 1940: Oslo has fallen, and the Germans have declared on the Dutch and immediately gained ground in the Netherlands. Belgium however is still neutral. I imagine that won't last for too long.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%208.jpg

One day after the fall of Oslo, Norway capitulated, expanding the Third Reich into Scandinavia. Meanwhile the Dutch have lost the entire Northern part of the Netherlands already:
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%209.jpg

On the 21st of April, Hitler declared war on and invaded Belgium. Meanwhile the Netherlands continued to lose ground against the Germans, as the United Kingdom seemingly continues to sit idle. Also, it seems the Russians have finally managed to breach Mannerheim's line. Nice work Stalin.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2010.jpg

On April 26th, (IN THE SPRING) the winter war came to an end, and the Finns finally surrendered, ceding Karelia to the USSR.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2011.jpg

On May 17th, the Dutch lost the remainder of their European territory to the Germans, who are pushing steadily into Belgium, and have reached the Eastern half of Belgium's border with France. Meanwhile, Romania has finally finished another infantry division, fully garrisoning her borders for the time being.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2012.jpg

In late May, Stalin lay claim to Besserabia. We decided to appease him, as we would much rather have the Russians as friend than foe. Unfortunately, this puts a hamper on our industry, one which we will have to desperately recover from.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2013.jpg

AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2014.jpg

Just a few days afterword, the Magyar swine laid claim to Transylvania! There is little we can do for now, but we will take it back! We will repay them, and we will slit each of their throats in the streets! Down with Admiral Horthy!!!
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2015.jpg

AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2016.jpg

Meanwhile on the western front, the Germans have defeated Belgium, and in the East Russia annexes the Baltic states peacefully.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2017.jpg

After much discussion with the cabinet, it would seem we have no choice. The axis has left their mark on our country without a single shot being fired. It is time we brought in some outside help. Today the nation of Romania formally signs a mutual assistance agreement with the United Soviet Socialist Republic, and joins the Comintern. We can only hope they provide the extra help we need.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2018.jpg

In mid-June, I looked around to see what Soviet troop positions looked like, and I must say, I have my worries about where they are choosing to position their troops. But after the Winter/Spring war disaster, I'm not sure I can blame them.o_O
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2019.jpg

In France the lines have been completely shattered by the Germans. Even the Maginot line has been compromised. The French are in full retreat. It won't be long before the Eiffel Tower does indeed fly the swastika. :(
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2020.jpg

In Romania, things aren't looking much better. With Transylvania part of the Magyar territory, our border garrison looks like this. And in France, Paris has been surrounded. It won't be long before the Luftwaffe is bombing it mercilessly and the city falls under red, white, and black.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2021.jpg

AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2022.jpg

In North Africa, things aren't looking too swell for the French, or the British either. The Italians have pushed deep into Tunisia and Egypt. The British however have made a successful naval landing on Sardinia!:D
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2023.jpg

July 18th, 1940: Paris fell today. Britain has vowed to continue the fight across the channel. Vichy France has been created as a German protectorate under Phillipe Petain. It is a dark day for Germany's enemies. But Romania will hold out no matter what.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2024.jpg

On July 24th, the Italians declared war on Greece and Invaded from Albania, only to be pushed back 4 days later into Italian territory! Nice job Greece!! Way to show the juggernaut how a minor does it! :D;)
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2025.jpg

By August 14th the Greeks had succeeded in pushing the Italians out of Albania. Italy is once again beaten back by a far inferior power.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2026.jpg

With the interceptors completed, I put the production IC into upgrades, in a desperate attempt to keep our forces up to par with the axis. Hopefully those will be finished soon, and I can construct divisions to defend those 4 provinces we have nothing on.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2027.jpg

On September 2nd, 1940, Bulgaria demanded Southern Dobruja. It turns out this would actually shorten our front line, giving us a stronger defensive position. So I accepted, believing that this will actually improve our position in the near future.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2028.jpg

AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2029.jpg

It's not a pretty Romania, but it will do for the time being. Bulgaria joined the axis powers on September 29th. That means we are surrounded by enemies on 2 sides. Greece surprisingly has continued to hold onto Albania. The Italians have also hit a deadlock in Egypt, and will most likely be pushed back soon enough.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2030.jpg

All I can say is, wow. Greece is really outdoing itself here. Albania is still in Greek possession, and the Bulgars made the mistake of declaring war before they mobilized, so the Greeks are invading Bulgaria.:) Of course, this could backfire if Bulgaria doesn't get it together fast, as they may annex Bulgaria, taking Southern Dobruja from me forever.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2031.jpg

Well, the Greek's good fortune did not last. When the Bulgarians did redeploy their troops, the Greeks were pushed back through the Greek border. Germany also invaded Yugoslavia, so it's only a matter of time before ME-109's are flying over Athens, and SS units storm the front lines.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2032.jpg

Well, if anything the two front war is straining the Bulgarians a bit. They've stopped making any gains in Greece in an attempt to defend their front line with Yugoslavia. However, Yugoslavia is under a Three pronged assault from Italy, Germany, and the Magyars as we speak.
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2033.jpg

Well, it's the end of 1940. And our situation seems to get worse and worse as time goes on. Our borders are lightly garrisoned. Lucky for us, Hungary seems to be straining it's own manpower pool to garrison theirs. And by annexing Transylvania, they have created a massive possible pocket, where a quarter of their troops are located.;)
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2034.jpg

In Europe, darkness has descended, as Hitler's Reich proclaims dominance. Yugoslavia is under powerful assault, and the Bulgarians have quickly recovered to push the Greeks further back down South. In Egypt, the Italians once again take the offensive, pushing the British back at an alarming rate. They may take Baghdad by the end of 1941. o_O
AAR%20Day%203%20scrn%2035.jpg

At any rate, Romania still stands. At the end of the day, the Red, Yellow, and Blue flag still flies over Bucharest, and when faced with such odds, that is all that matters. Long live the King!

Until next time. As usual, thanks to the readers, and comments are always appreciated.

Thanks for the update: the storm is coming. Have you considered not defending your extremities and just concentrating on your core VPS around Bucharest and Ploesti and keeping enough of a screen of units in place to hope the Soviets bring their forces in to help defend? Then setting a bunch of allied objective points and hope they march in? After war is declared, that is.
