Forced Annexation problem.

This afternoon in my Austria game, Wurtenburg declared war my ally Bavaria. Everyone in our alliance sided with Bavaria. I occupied Wertenburg and its city, and the rest of the war consisted of Bavaria, Hungary and I eliminating the enemy armies that were retreating back and forth between Wertenburg and Tyrol. As it stands now, both Hungary and I have troops in W'berg.According to the map I am in control of the province and city, but it still belongs to W'burg.

When I make a peace offer annexation is not and offer. W'burg has not madeany peace offers since i killed off their army, and no one in the alliance has made peace with them. So, does anyone no why I haven't been able to make a forced annex?

There might be a bug that won't allow you to annex countries in wars where you aren't the alliance leader.

I've read in an old post that you must be the leader that declared/started the war in order to force annexation.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.

If you're not the alliance leader, you can not annex the country.

According to the old posts that I read, it didn't matter if you were the leader of the alliance or not. However, you must be the county that actually started/declared war.

Maybe it is because the country that declares war takes stability hits, therefore they get the reward of being able to forcibly annex.

Yes - but that's because when you declare a war, you become the 'Alliance leader' for that war.

I was under the impression that the 'Alliance Leader' was the country that started/initiated the alliance, but was not necessarily the 'War Leader'.

Well, we're basically saying the same thing. We can call it the war leader if you prefer.

Incidentally, the war leader is whoever started the war - basically the nation who either declared the war, or on whom war was declared. So if you were declared war upon, you can also annex the enemy.
