I am working on a bit of a mod, adding a new company and leader. I wish for a particular breakthrough to be unlocked from the start. Problem? I can't get it to work. The GrantTech function just doesn't seem to work on them. If anyone can provide some insight, that would be great.
 
GrantTech does work, but you have to use the correct name for the Tech to unlock. Usually it's just remove spaces, but some of them are slightly different.

The only one I've not been able to find out the reference name for is Vocational-Oriented Society. (If anyone knows what this one is, please do tell.)

Vocational-Oriented Society has tech id: Vocation-Oriented Society
 
You can't just add for example "GrantTech("SuperiorCables")" in a script file, you also need a trigger, for example game start:

    GrantTech("SuperiorCables")
end
This will give you the Superior Cable tech when you start a new game.
