I currently have an asset uploaded to the Steam Workshop (an intersection). It works nicely in its current state, so I don't want to modify it.
What I do want to do is create a new version of it; take the thing as-is, change some things, then save it as a different asset, which I may or may not share later.
The problem I ran into is, if I just open the file in the asset editor, do some changes, then save it as a different name, the game, for some reason, will see both versions as being my workshop item, which I'm subscribed to! So I have the option to Update my existing item, but there seems to be no way to handle the new version as an entirely different thing.
Is there any solution to this? I've tried copying the file manually, but it seems to internally store the workshop number, and editing the insides of the .crp file doesn't really seem to work well. Plus frankly, I just wish there was a way to do this in-game...
Resolving this might also mean players would be able to take downloaded assets, then modify them on their own to their needs, possibly uploading the modified version themselves. Currently, if you take someone else's mod, modify it locally and save it with a different name, it will see all the files as the same subscription (it will also create a weird duplicate entry in the Content Manager/Assets, until the game is restarted).
