Just wondering if east or west germany conquer each other will it just form germany same with korea and vietnam. I dont think I want the new united vietnam being called North Vietnam samd goes with germany, korea, and ect.

Well none of the Germanies, Koreas or Vietnams were actually called 'north' or 'south'. They were the DDR, ROK, etc.

I think this is a good solution. West Germany should be called "Federal Republic of Germany" ingame (for example). Because The united Germany is still called that way today (formally), but you just say Germany because it's shorter and you dont need to tell which Germany you mean. If the east would have taken over the West, it would be DDR / German Democratic Republic today.
So what I actually wanted to say, the usage of the formal name for the countries that united or probably would have united (Korea) should not just be called North or South Korea, but by their formal name ingame.
That way you dont have the problem to rename the country ingame from West Germany to Germany, once it became a united country. Federal Republic of Germany could be used for both West Germany and a united Germany, when the West took over the East.
(Since the SR:CW devs do not have the resources to implement country name changes, understandably).

I agree with Rulestormer. I just thought id bring this up because in supreme ruler 2020 the koreas are called north and south korea and if one takes over the other it stays just north or south korea.

I always hate that in games where a country is named North or South and East or West something instead of its official name. It just irks me. Sadly from my understanding, it can't be fixed in SR2020. You're doomed to forever see North Korea or South Korea.

Well, then call West Germany just Germany (FRG) for example, it's short and easily understandable that one of the Germanies must be meant with FRG.
(For those who dont understand which country would be meant if you just call it FRG.)
So you just have Germany (FRG), Germany (GDR), Korea (DPRK) etc.
It's short enough and I think it's legit in the most cases to call them so, since all those countries claimed themself to be the rightfull Germany/Korea/Vietnam or whatever and didnt actually have West, North or so in their names. And a united country would just keep the prefix/suffix of the "senior" country.

That seems a reasonable solution. Good post.

You can have true for germany thing, but some countries rename after reuniting - very nice example is vitnam - it was nothing like north/south vietnam after reuniting. I think no ona want to make EU if he will conquer all europe (but it will be interesing).

Germany didnt rename at all.
Actually no countries that have been splitted up like Germany, Korea or Vietnam had North, South or something like that in their name.
West Germany was called Federal Republic of Germany, while the east was called German Democratic Republic.
The united Germany is called Federal Republic of Germany today.
Same goes with Vietnam I think. North Vietnam was called Democratic Republic of Vietnam. As the north took over the south, the united Vietnam today is still called that way. so let's Northvietnam just call Vietnam (DRoV) ingame, and it fits for both the separate north and the united country.
and if South Korea, actually called Republic of Korea, had united Korea, the united Korea would still be called that way.

Edit:
Somehow misread your post.
Ok, Vietnam renamed itself in 1976 to Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Well, the DRoV was obviously just a farce by Stalin then, to make the west think that he's actually a nice guy. But that's off topic.
I don't see a solution there then, but considering the game wont be played many times beyond 1975, we could let it stay as DRoV. it's just a single letter in the abbreviation anyways.
