So, I am playing as Duke of Toulouse, I have a larger number of vassals, and I thought it was about time I started getting myself a crown.

To that end, I have seized both the counties that make up the weak Kingdom of Navarre, but I do not get the option to "create title" for the kingdom. I do get the option to create the title for Duke of Navarre, and have done this.

What am I missing?
 
One explanation I can think of is that someone else allready have a title of King of Navarre, so you just have to find that person, whoop his ass and ask kindly for title (first you got to usurp it though - buy with prestige).

Side not - haven't played on Iberian Penisula, so don't know the layout there. You sure there is a Kingdom of Navarre there? (maybe just a duchy...)

The kingdom of Navarra is an uncreatable title, it only exists as a kingdom at the start of the scenarios (just like Nubia f.e.). Once the title is destroyed it can't recreated again.
 
Beacause there's a current reigning King of Navarre, you'll need him to cede the title to you through a war (i.e. "Sue for Peace > Recognise XXX as King of Navarre")

Oddly enough there isn't any province that's explicitly part of Navarre. The 2 counties that make up Navarre are part of Aragon and Castille, iirc.

I recently got hold of the "Duchy of Zaragossa". Another orphaned title, I'm assuming...
 
No, there is no 'creatable' Kingdom of Navara title. Once it's gone, it's gone. What you should have done (IF the Kingdom of Navara was still around), was to get a Claim on his King title before making Peace, and then taking the King title in the Peace process.

Edit: Ninja'd by Veld (I knew it was taking me too long to type this answer out). lol

Edit 2: It looks like you'll have to head East for Burgundy Title, keep going in France for the French Title, keep working in Spain for one of those Titles (since you've got a start on Aragorn now). Head to the British Isles or Italy.

Or, if you want a 'roving title' (like Navara would have been), a long shot would be one of those Muslim King Titles in Africa/Mauritania. Those Muslim Roving Titles are much harder to get because it takes planning, luck and time. You need to vassalize the Heir to one of those Muslim Kings. Hope he converts to Christianity before inheriting his father's King title. If he does, when he inherits, then that turns into a Catholic King title and you can then work on getting a Claim to it and then take it away. Like I said, it's much harder but it's very sweet to have your Primary title be a former Muslim King Title.

Yes, tons of them, both Duke and King Level. Almost all of them are Muslim/Pagan tho. Seljuk Turks f.e. So if you wish to set a really hard goal for yourself, make your Goal to have your First/Primary King Title be Seljuk Turks. ;)

I was actually thinking of a game on Iberian Peninsula, making it both Christian and uniting it under one banner (my banner of course). Now I know to be careful of Navarra, extra title is always welcome.

King of Seljuk Turks. Perhaps one day:cool:

If you're looking for Unique Titles in the Iberian Peninsula, besides Navarra King title, there are only 2 Muslim Unique ones. Zaragosa is un-creatable and then there is a Muslim Mallorca (in addition to a Christian one you can create).

The main problem with Navarra is he tends to get destroyed fairly fast. So unless you get lucky and get a claim by event, it's very hard to get the title. Even if you're playing Castille or Leon, it takes time to build up prestige. A lucky break would be an early rebellion by one of your vassals and you'd get tons of prestige in the Peace treaty. Tho everyone else in Iberia will be watching for that and will stab you in the back immediately. lol

And ofcourse if you were playing DVIP with the More Kingdoms Mod you would have the option of recreating Navarre and Nubia, as well as trying for the Kingdom of Aquitania in the south of France, which shouldn't be too hard for a large Duchy of Toulouse.

Poor Agnes. So unloved and a pawn in so many games. :(

Altho, I'm not sure if the King of France will let you wait around that long before he ups and creates it himself the first chance he gets. I guess it all depends on how lucky he gets with taking provinces from rebellious vassals and how many 20-year wars he gets into with England and Germany. lol

But yes, the poorer he stays, the better off you are when you want that title. ;)

Just to make it harder on him, it wouldn't hurt to switch over to Germany as soon as possible. And work on that marriage. Without the Toulouse provinces, he can't create that title. Ya never know tho. In my current game of DVIP, that marriage came to naught. The Duke kept popping out sons, so many he eventually switched to Galic and split his Realm into itty-bitty pieces. lol

With the recent .exe mods, I've seen her become duchess quite often, so it seems her life has improved in the CKverse. :)

The historic Agnes d'Aquitaine was married to Alfonso VI of Leon and Castile and Emperor of Spain in his effort to attract cross-Pyrenees alliances. Had Agnes not died precipitously and born a male heir, can you imagine that Empire stretching from Galicia through to Poitou? In an effort to remove Agnes as a pawn, I have modded her marriage to Alfonso early in my own games.Also in my game I play with Damsels Not In Distress mode which allows female inheritance. Anges becomes Duchess of Aquitaine about half of the time if her father doesn't have a son.
