Germany and Italy were both wiped out fairly early (before 1941) by the efforts of France.The Balkans are all Soviet Puppets... And yet, PORTUGAL is still held out into mid-42 (not a single D-Day attempt seemed to occur, and after initial strategic bombing success, the allies got lackluster in that too)! I finally got so annoyed I acceptalled Rep Spain into my alliance. Right now, Britain and France have occupied most of its colonies, and Rep Spain controls the peninsula, but the AZORES of all places are still in their posession!

This has kept both me and the allies in a state of perpetual war, which seems more than a bit silly.

Ok, sound like a nice game .
What nation are you playing ?
Its a seldom setup that Portugal is Axis so thats the reason , that the Azores are no invasion target.

I, the USSR, had to capture the Azores myself. That's kind of sad, and IMO pretty evidently demonstrates how lazy of bums the allies are.

Right now I'm at war with the allies. It's not even been 2 months and I've already blitzed my way from Poland and the Balkans moderate penetration into france, and I'm owning in the Middle East.

How often have you seen Portugal in the war ? Its possible , but seldom . DAIM isn't , maybe thats a weakness , covering the weakpoints .

The problem is, there are tons of potential invasion targets for all sides. If you give them all to the AIs, they might end up doing nothing serious because of too much choice. The AI should do invasions everywhere in principle, as there is a setting for randomly choosing targets.
