Can I know the penalty for attacking a fort at various levels?
Also..what is a good amount of AA on Core?
Rivers penalty is higher than normal HOI?

You could have posted it in the CORE 0.7 general discussions thread.

you could've saved the time and not posted at all if you didn't have anything helpful to say...I understand the desire to keep the CORE forums organised but this "no new thread" attitude is one of the main reasons I never post here. oh well...just my $0.02.

1. Check MatGuy's calculations in teh General HoI discussion forum for the various modifiers. He did a bang up job on them

2. 2-3 pts is generally good in my experience. The hard number crunchers may say differently.

3. I don't think so, but modifiers for some techs have been tweaked.

And yes, this should have gone in teh general discussion thread for 0.7...I expect it will be merged there at some point...

While it could have been said much more politely, you have to see it from our point. If everyone just posted their own threads for each individual point they have to discuss, we will soon lose some important threads, and the board will become increasingly cluttered. People are just getting frustrated at the fact that many posters refuse to read the simple and layed out README, which does ask that threads remain minimal and that you post in the correct forums. It is difficult to keep track of certain threads when they disappear because so many single point threads pop up and push them off.

Possibly it is time to think about creating a sub-forum for CORE, one for development of a future project, and another for discussion of the existing one?

Same as in vanilla HoI. As previous post suggest - Math Guy threads will be the best to learn more about the exact values.

More then in vanilla HoI. :) Values in vanilla HoI were toohigh, resulting in air units destroyer even if they were simply passing over the province. I would suggest using fighters as the base of AA defense system.

Yes. To check exact values, enter any of the inc files in mod-CORE/scenarios/CORE campaign (or something similar) directory and find the block called "modifiers".

Thanks all for replying.

Next time I'll post in Core general discussion thread, ok? I've made a new post for two reasons:
a) I never read a readme
b) usually I get tired of reading a thread that has over 20 pages of replies..

a) shame on you ;)
b) you dont have to read all 20+ pages, no-one is going to hit on you for posting a question that has been asked before.(pearl harbor questions not included  )

Gorion83, reading readme is useful. Really. If you respect your time and don't like it wasted, please respect our time as well. :)

I have no doubts on usefulness of core readme.
I usually skip readmes (for every game/program) because they are very long and have a lot of "basic" information that usually I don't need to read to understand the program. Next time I'll read the core readme :)

(The following is not in response to Gorion but rather for the thread in general)

About new threads and how to use this sub-forum... The decision was made a long time ago to try to keep everything relating to certain topics in the same thread. This would allow people to easily follow a conversation and find all the posts on a certain topic. I don't think anybody at the time was really expecting that there would be 20.000 posts a year later!

Anyway, it's helpful if we can keep certain things together, for example if somebody comes here and wants to work on the Far East I can say "just read the stuff in the Far East thread and post there" instead of "please read through the entire forum, the stuff you need to know is in 250 different threads". However, there's no reason to get worked up about it - it's there as a guide, it's a nice to have and it's not a big deal either way. I think most would agree that the important part is that questions posted here are answered quickly and generally speaking that's happening!
