As the years go on, Parliaments shuffled around, careers made and ruined, parties created and destroyed, one can only come to the conclusion that politics never changes.

In an unexpected turn of events has shaken the foundation of the British nation in the last couple of years. Surviving electoral reform, Scottish attempt at secession, and what was the certain possibility of a hung parliament, Prime Minister David Cameron’s government has held strong over the past years of his government. However cracks have begun to show in the Conservative Party, especially regarding the status of the European Union and Britain, with some right-wing MP’s beginning to fall out of line. As big names such as Boris Johnson are starting to back Brexit, Cameron is finding it harder and harder to keep his party together. Meanwhile in Labour certain factions have been dissatisfied since the election of Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn, questioning his electability for Prime Minister. As Corbyn expresses his desire to push Labour further left, moderate and new Labour have been put on edge, with rumors to push Corbyn out before the next general election. Other parties such as the Liberal Democrats and Greens are craving stronger leadership as low results of vote and seat share is beginning to demoralize the base. In Scotland SNP Leader Nicola Sturgeon has been rumored to be low on party funds after figures show a small reserve left for after the upcoming local elections. While she and other leaders have dismissed this as “nothing fundraising can’t solve”, an earlier than expected election could be damaging, especially with the wide number of SNP seats to defend. Finally riding off the popularity of Brexit and the issue of the EU is Farage’s UKIP. Despite the party doing well in polls, it has failed to achieve electoral success, leading some to question how far the party can go after the upcoming EU Referendum, and also with Nigel at the helm. Dissatisfaction with the current parties shown by new polls has cast a shadow of the future of the British government. Now with new political faces appearing all across the nation, people are wondering how this new government will take shape.

Hello everyone! And welcome to my first political game focused on creating a totally new political situation for Britain as determined by the players. Basically the gist of the game is that one can form completely new parties, factions split of from major parties, or even merely a spin-off of a historical party. The choice is yours!

We will start in the year 2016 as our present, and move into the future with new events unfolding for our country. A New, Different Britain will focus mainly on the parliamentary aspect of the government, but also on the elections for the parties to participate in. Our elections mainly will be decide partly by a Random Number Generator, which will influence factors which decide how well a party does and ultimately give the outcome of an election. Immediately after elections we will move into a phase where parties will come together and negotiate to form governments.

After elections, parties will be able to enter Parliament to submit and vote on bills, as well as appeal to their base of support and increase potential voters. Parties will be able to make speeches, hold rallies, campaign for issues, even compete in by-elections. Now its time to bring your party to power and benefit Britons across the country!

Game Rules

Some golden rules for the game:

1. GM is always (mostly) right.
2. You are expected to follow all forum rules while playing this game.
3. Be civil and show respect, in and out of character.
4. Keep your personal politics to an absolute minimum. I don’t want any arguments.
5. If you want to use OOC, type “((“ and “))” before and after what you want to say. Please use this for game mechanics and other issues.
6.May the best man win.
7. Enjoy yourself and have fun.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

The Ministry

If you do find yourself heading a government in Number 10, remember that in this game you will likely get there with help of a coalition, a coalition that will want spots in your ministry. In order to form a unified government, you’ll have to give these concessions to satisfy them. Players will be given a period to iron this out, and then once positions are decided will allowed to go about with their new duties.

~~~
Election Orders
During significant elections such as General, European, regional, ect, I will ask players who are party leaders and are competing in said election to submit orders regarding their plan to win it. An order should look something like this:
Party & Leader:
Campaign Slogan:
Theme:
Areas focusing on:
Electoral Strategy:
After receiving orders, I will write up an update regarding the event.
Sign Ups
And of course the sign-ups for your parties and characters. Making new characters is allowed following the death/retirement of your character, but one cannot RP as two characters at once. If it seems there are too many parties or if one already exists and particularly appeals to you, you are free to join as a character of that party. Real-life characters are fine, but remember that they receive no special advantages or disadvantages compared to made-up characters.
Bio: Born in 1971 in southern Coventry to parents of Scottish origin, Godwin became a devoted left-wing member of the Labour Party in his early youth. However, due to what he personally feels is the "dumbing down of the Labour Party's original ideals as of recently", Godwin has formed his own political party: the Social Democratic Party. It's generally a more leftist version of the current Labour Party.
Constituency: Oxford East
Core Policies/Positions: Conservative, Civil and Moral Rights, Pro-Life, Pro-Marriage, focus on education
Party Color(s): White and Yellow
Picture of his last year as professor:View attachment 166550
Bio: A retired professor at Oxford that during his tenure taught philosophy, ethics, history, and Latin, having a doctorate in each, is extremely knowladgeable in these subjects as well as a fabulous debater and thinker. He was forced to retire because liberal students at the college blackmailed the administration to get him fired because they thought his ideas were 'too conservative" and they knew he was a Catholic. He was deeply hurt that they would do this even though he had been teaching there for 52 years. Seeing the major trends in liberal education, he thought the way to fix that would be to run for Parliament. Running on a strong moral and conservative ticket he obtained a seat and with a small group of moral conservatives he formed the Justice Party, focused. about the moral state of the the world and the moral issues of the world and education. With his compatriots, seeks to resolve those issues.
