Turn 0-(Part 2)

Map of Biomes (Biomes Listed on Map [Mountains are impassable]) w/starting positions marked on dots: http://i.imgur.com/SSiq78S.jpg

Political Map w/Starting positions outlined in color: http://i.imgur.com/X0z7sIP.jpg

The first task for each civilization is to choose a hunting specialization per the directions listed in the last update [post in the thread]. Once that is done, the game proper will start.

Each of your 4 POPs is located in that single province. Your task is:

1-Get enough food to feed all of them.

2-Get enough wealth so that they can pay for their food.

this will most probably require moving your pops to different provinces. Only 1 POP per province can hunt, and that exhausts hunting for one turn. A further consideration on movement is communication. Currently, your communication range is 1 province away from your capitol province (capitol province is up to you, and can be changed at any time. If a POP is out of range of the capitol, it forms a new culture.

How to submit an order

1. Download the Political map above.

2. Label on the map provinces the number of POPs per province that you wish to occupy per the rules already given. Color these provinces in the assigned color.

3. Assign the number of POPs per occupation in a spreadsheet or word document per the rules above (Workers are not allowed at this time, neither are farmers, the only designations are hunter and soldier).

4. Assign the distribution of wealth per your estimate according to the above rules (hunters make 1.25 wealth, each POP needs 1 to buy food). Example: 5 to workers, 1 to ruling class; when expenses come into play, you will have to pay for those too.

5. Send it all in a PM to myself.

Once everyone picks a specialization, the game will begin. You have 48 hours before getting kicked out of the game.

why not put the specialisation in the pm and not use a downloaded word doc?

((I don't know how to do this special image/map-coloring stuff. Could I have a tutorial for absolute newbies or something akin to that please? I'm sorry, thank you.))

((This seems awfully complicated; can't we just submit orders to you by PM like in most forum games? This seems overly complex. :())

(( I don't know about anyone else, but I may or may not just leave right now. This is extremely complicated. I'll try to play a few turns, but no guarantees. I simply don't have the time to handle all the stuff that should, truthfully, be handled by the GM. ))

((Unfortunately, I must agree with my fiendish colleague. This may prove to much for my mental faculties.))

((Does specializing in River bonus give you fishing with +1 trade route?

Also, a problem I have with the, "Designate POPs to a province" idea. How does one differentiate between provinces? I guess I could use cardinal directions for now, but that would grow tedious or down right impossible fairly quickly. Technically I could look up province number in Victoria 2 game, then reference via that, but again tedious and complicated.))

Yes. You're supposed to mark out provinces (and your actions) on the map.

1. Download the map.
2. Use MSpaint or another software to color provinces.
3. Use the text button to add the number of people per province.
4. upload the file somewhere, and send it back to me.

You are submitting orders to me by PM. Incidentally I'm not even asking for orders yet because everyone needs to pick a specialization.

Seriously?

I'm not asking you to do anything complicated. All you are doing at this stage is moving POPs around and assigning who gets what. If you want me to handle that, you'll literally have nothing to do.

((I understand that right now there is not much to do. My complaint is directed towards later eras when you have millions of POPs. The math involved and the micromanagement is definitely possible. Just from what I infer, it would take a serious amount of time.

Anyways, I'll stop bellyaching for now. My hunting specialization will be in tropical rainforests. ))

I still think it'd be relatively simple...Anyway, wealth will now be precalculated, every player starts off with 6 wealth, and they will have to assign it this turn. So from now on, the only tasks will be the movement of POPs, and assigning wealth, as well as government and diplomacy.

Is there any mechanism by which one could simply choose a distant province to move to and gradually move there over the first few turns (as per the actual Civ games)?

(Small question. Do Hunter yield 1 wealth or 1.25 wealth? In your last two posts are both values mentioned)

1.25 wealth and 1 food; 1.5 food if on a specialized province.

Trade routes, or simply moving that POP one turn at a time.
