Calamity burst into the office. "Their locator is transmitting again!"

Marcus set down the latest caravan report. Calamity wasn't the excitable type so this must be pretty important. "Whose locator?"

"The Eastbound expedition"

"What?!" They hadn't had any contact with those scouts for over two months now, and it was presumed lost with all personnel.

"Communications reports that the locator on Orsons Satellite Uplink came back on a few minutes ago."

Now that was more than just an excuse to dodge paperwork! They hurried to the comm center, the comm tech on duty was a youngish human Marcus didn't recognize.

"... I repeat, this is Jacobstown control calling Eastbound one, please respond, over!"

The slightly-cracked video screen flickered to life, showing the scarred(with a with a couple of new but well healed ones Marcus thought) face.

"Rodger Jacobstown, we copy. Are you receiving? Over."

Marcus picked the techs chair up, with the tech still in it, to one side and pulled up a sturdier one for himself.

"Status report"

"A little banged-up but alive sir. We, ah, had a little misunderstanding with some locals and the uplink got damaged. The issue has been cleared up and we've been guests here while they helped us put it back together."

"Where exactly is 'here', and who are you with?"

"Well 'here' is on a hill near our hosts HQ, which is some sort of old bunker. 'Who' is... well, see for yourself, their leader would like to speak to you."

The view swiveled to show a pale slightly withered face Marcus hadn't seen in a long time.

"Hello old friend" Said Goris the albino Deathclaw...

Think Inside The Box
Inside the usually quiet hunting lodge a small crate addressed to Marcus was carried in by one of the super mutants. "Delivery from Chase, says its for Marcus!" The metal crate had the words warning fragile written on it.

Marcus looked at the crate then opened it.The contents of the box included 21 mini nukes as well as a hand written letter from Chase which read.

"Dear Marcus, hope that whatever your plans are that this will help. Sincerely Chase. Ps the 6,000 refuges near our boarders I would greatly appreciate it if you let them in and I hope you like whats in the box, surprise."

Marcus smiles "Tell the kid the refugees are already being settled"

The Super Mutant that had delivered the crate looked inside after Marcus had opened it and read the letter. "Nice, he didn't mention what was in it to me, but if I do recall this is the same box he arrived here with, you got it boss, anything else?"

Marcus thought for a moment. "And tell him thanks for the nukes. I hope we never need them, but we probably will. Make sure they're stored safely."

The Mutant nodded. "Will get to it right away boss, what sounds safer putting them in one of the mine shafts or maybe that old Enclave bunker in the woods... the second option actually sounds way safer."

Southern Mutant Radio News
Southern Mutant Radio News (SMRN) is, as of Spring 2301, the only radio station allowed to broadcast within the territory controlled by Facade's Army. Probably because nobody else thought that the East Coast Super Mutants could set up a radio network. SMRN informs the people in Facade's Army of domestic news, announcements from the Super Mutants, and rumors from the East Coast. The radio station for SMRN is manned by a couple of slaves who read the news on the air and a couple of Super Mutants there. You know, in case if the slaves try anything funny.

This is Southern Mutant Radio News, broadcasting from Mutant Town.

Up north, there's been no further word of the situation in the Institute, although many are saying that the fragile state the Institution is in could potentially lead to a civil war there. In the DCC, Ron Shirley, the former leader of the DCC, was rumored to have hanged himself in prison. Shirley had grown unpopular in the DCC due to controversial dealings with the Brotherhood of Steel. Nobody will know how Shirley's death, if he even is dead, will affect the feuding in the DCC.

Around here, a few stubborn Super Mutants and their slaves have finally come back from Arlington. Facade's Army is saying the Super Mutants were out all the way near the DCC due to some confusion in the orders they were issued a couple of seasons ago. Communication was also difficult during the winter.

Facade's Army is also going to be recruiting slaves in order to govern the lands more efficiently. They're offering to cut back on the tribute a slave is required to pay if you become a representative.

Until next time, this has been Southern Mutant Radio News.

The Temple of the Union had expanded into the last of the unoccupied areas in DC. The next objective was obvious, but far from easy. It was time to remove the influence of the slavers in TenPenney Tower from the DC area.

Martin Luther called together his officers and began to plan.
