Dear Mr. Houston,
I have been in politics for almost half a decade now. For half a decade I've been working, tirelessly, at times effectively, and for what? Not to see myself at the head of a consortium of liars and thieves. Not to abandon my principles and compromise with those who aim for nothing but to expand their wealth and influence. No. I've been working to spark a movement. To set off a domino effect. To inspire. To give those who once had no voice, one that screams and shouts into the years who try to ignore it. Now, it appears, the voice is starting to be listened to - the dominoes have fallen - the movement has begun.
This is not my movement. This movement belongs to not to one man, but to the people. I have no right to monopolize it. Therefore, I commend you. You have most effectively, most quickly, organized a certain group of people against those who harm and exploit them. Finally, I have an ally. I have one who, like I, wishes the best for his home and his democracy. I have a friend.
The policies you line out here, I have endorsed time and time again, you needn't even ask me whether I agree with them, though, I'll go over my views once more.
Time and time again, the uber-rich have shown themselves as untrustworthy keepers of our people's resources. Time and time again, when the situation called to them to tighten their belts, to cut down on how they lavishly spend, they have instead sought to scrupulessly fire the workers who have worked loyally to them for years. It is time to pass what belongs to the people by constitution - to all people, in equal share - back, directly, into the hands of the people. This applies especially to the Gold Industry. The Industry, upon whose resource our entire economy is based upon, to which our currency is directly pegged to. Who owns it? Who has the lion's share of the gold-mines. No one knows better than you and your comrades - the Van Graffs and their cruelty. It must be taken away from them. We cannot give the Van Graffs an advantage over other, more honest businessmen.
That was first. Now second. Labour, rights, healthcare, education. Everyone deserves it. All the humans, all the ghouls, all of them deserve these fundamental rights of living things. Our nation has earned it. The people of the republic, those who have made it great, deserve it. Unions I am equally positive towards. Labour unions and agricultural unions. We must organize those with smaller amounts of wealth into consortiums, we must represent them politically, we must ensure that they have the ability to compete against large, more ruthless businessmen.
Likewise; the last two points. I will tell you truthfully, I have no opinion on this ghouls versus humans thing - it is petty to me. Unimportant. All these people, from both sides, seek to do, is to divide our people so they can control them. That is all. You mention infrastructure bills for the North. While I think our infrastructure quite sound in general, yes, I am a Klamathi by blood. The economic opportunities of this, now resource and agriculture core of the NCR, are infinite. It is time we exploit them. Fairly.
Now, with that clear, let me clarify my intention. Firstly, if I am to form a government, I need you somewhere in the cabinet. Vice President, Chancellor, Minister, Governor - whatever. You represent a people group I think it is very important to accurately represent. You represent a movement, a strain of thinking, which, if we are to create a fair and equal New California Republic, we desperately need at the helm of our goverment.
Likewise, I intend to write to Senator Carpenter, and inform her of my intention to offer her a position within the cabinet, should she desire one.
With respect and admiration,
John H. Broderick, Senator Klamath
