It's been a long journey...it's been a hard journey I had to kill a pack of mutants at Belyaevo and at Leninsky Prospekt I had to sneak past a group of bandits. But finally I've reached Confederation lines. Oktyabrskaya Station the place seems alive like no station I've ever seen before. Caravans are constantly coming and leaving, trains packed with Confederation soldiers are heading east and all throughout the station music can be heard as it seems every restaurant and cafe has at least one performer if not a couple.

Sitting down at one such establishment I interviewed a few locals the first one was a trader born and raised in the republic by the name of Alexander Tsenetsky. The man works for the Tolstoy Brothers one of the bigger caravan outfits this side of the Confederation. When I asked him about life within the Republic he admitted that it was comfortable especially for the rich and well safe with the Confederation on all sides the inhabitants of Oktyabrskaya station had little to fear. I then continued the interview asking him about the history of the republic. According to Alexander it had been founded immediately after the fall of Central Metro Command..a young man named Marova took leadership of the station he was popular and thus the people elected him leader for a first time and then a second time and on and on. Today the stress of leadership seems to have taken its toll on him as Marova seems to be just a shadow of his former self. Proceeding with the interview I asked about corruption in the republic and with that question Alexander seemed to quiet up so I left him looking for some one new to speak with.

It did not take me long I found a squad of Confederation soldiers all in their brown fatigues drinking in one of the pubs. They granted me an interview and it was revealed that some of them were from Kultury while others were from the communist station to the east. They seemed happy to speak to me but couldn't tell me what they were doing in the Republic so I stopped asking. After a few shots however they loosened up a bit and we talked about what they thought of the Republic. A few of them hated Oktyabrskaya as they thought that the citizens of the republic saw themselves as above the other members of the Confederation however others seemed to love the station the music the drinking the women they felt right at home. After having a few more shots with them I went to visit the Confederation headquarters within the station where the famous diplomat Makarov would be housed.

I had to wait for a while to meet Makarov however he greeted me with a smile and a shake of the hand before we sat down for an interview. I began by asking him several questions about how he got his job however he seemed to deflect them all however when we got to talking about the Confederation itself he opened up a bit. He stated that the mission of the Confederation is to restore order to the metro the re electrify the tunnels and to make it safe for all of its inhabitants. That although things were heating up with the communists the main enemy of the Confederation would always be mutants and bandits. I also asked him about Marova he professed that he had great admiration for the man as he had been a crusader for justice and peace at a time when there was one however he expressed concerns about the aging leader and wondered who would be his successor. Then the phone rang and I was ushered out of the mans office. I had wanted to interview with Marova however he was sick and unavailable at the time so I decided to continue on my journey through the Confederation next stop the capital Park Kultury.

Gentleman of the Rangers, my name is Grigory Vasilyev in representation of the Republic as its Representative Citizen.

Now Colonel Miller, i know of you as a sensible man as any here in the free land of the Republic, for such i authorized by my equals citizen of the Republic bring you a proposal:

We understand you wish to obtain the corpse of such rare creature as the Dark One, we can only think as to research it and that is good BUT this Dark one attacked our people in our territory and is found in our nation as as such is the property of every single citizen of our nation and we cannot allow our property to be taken as we were simply slaves of tyrants.

Our proposal is that the Rangers will be allowed a team on the republic to study the Dark one in conjunction with the men of science of the republic and such both groups will benefit of whatever is discover and bloodshed and bad faith avoided. Instead we will grow happiness and cooperation as any proper free men and woman should do.

''Lower your guns.'' Miller's harsh voice called out. The man walked up to the garrison's leader, standing still and staring into his eyes for what felt like an eternity. Finally, the silence was broken as Miller spat on the ground and responded. ''Well that's some fantastic propaganda you got there boy, if it had not been our men that found the damn corpse and our scientists that will be able to make any sense of the goddamn thing.'' He stopped for a second, loudly cocking the shotgun in his hands. ''Let me put this very simply: You are not in a position to bargain kid. You seem to miss that you're up against a team of the best goddamn Rangers that ever visited this arse end of a line you call a station. So you'll have to excuse me if I don't find my mouth watering right now.'' Another pause, the four rangers behind Miller slowly backed away, bringing their weapons up ever so slightly. ''But for the sake of the peace of the Metro and all that horseshit, let me make a counteroffer. And when I say offer, I mean that this is the way it'll fucking be: The corpse goes with us, to our outpost at Begovaya. Your little Republic gets to send 3 scientists to the place to assist our own, and they might send home anything they find. When we're done with the corpse, it goes with us back to Theatre. In return, your Republic will assist the Rangers in any coming wars when we request it.'' To underline the point, the shotgun he held so tightly is tossed into one hand, barrel up, as he stretches out his hand. ''Is that clear, kid?''
