Forest City, up until recently a safe haven untouched by the Zombie virus, is now beginning to feel the devastating effects of the plague. With most forms of communication dead, city officials have established a localized network for coordinating emergency services in the inevitable event the virus comes here. This "Survivors' Forum" is easily accessed by the denizens of the city, and as communication with the outside world becomes lost, it is soon becoming the last resource for organizing rescue efforts and communicating with the remnants of the US government. News, calls for help, and emergency personnel coordination are now being relayed on this network, accessible from many electronic devices. As the world burns and the dead walk, the last communiques from the survivors of a doomed city will stand here as a grim account of their last days.

Forum of the Dead will be a casual role playing game set in a fictional city in northern Michigan, a beacon of urban life in the middle of cottage country, where some three hundred thousand potential zombies live out their doomed lives. Players take the form of users of a localized network forum designed to act as a last form of communication while all others are dark. Any one can create as many users as they want and take part in the game, communicating their dying pleas for help, a cop asking for back up, a back wood survivalist hopelessly surrounded outside city limits, etc. This is a game with very little mechanics and one that can be jumped in and out on with ease.

Every week or so a status update will be posted detailing the state of the city, that players can use to ground their rp. From there, feel free to reach out to your fellow survivors, coordinate zombie hunts, establish strongholds, and raid for supplies. For the most part, you will decide on your success or failure, what ever makes sense for your rp. Though expect me to throw wrenches in your plans.

This game takes place in real time - based on standard eastern time, creating the illusion of a real forum of zombie apocalypse survivors. While most will be the standard users, I do need "players" to take the role of the Mayor, Chief of Police, Hospital Director, National Guard Base Commander, Fire Chief. It is these five characters that will direct emergency services, establish triages, construct fortifications, and maintain the general defense of the city. Though their underlings will be on hand to carry out day to day functions, these five should be active to guide the survivors and hopefully maintain a valiant defense.

Forest City itself has an abandoned lumber mill, a functional steel mill, oil refinery, and port. Outside the city limits are vast resources in lumber, and a coal mine and oil wells both with limited supply. Within the city there is also a national guard base, nearly emptied by the authorities in the first days of the crisis, a police station well stocked with arms and ammunition, a hospital well maintained and supplied, expansive green belts and parks, and access to Lake Michigan and the interstate freeway.

As the game goes on, expect me to exploit every misstep of the players, and generally cause havoc for all of you, until the city finally collapses and the last of the survivors are huddled in their dark shelters counting the days until the zombie horde overruns their meager defenses. btw, we're talking the walking dead variety of zombies, as in everyone is infected and the undead are generally shamblers where the "fresh" ones are capable of short bursts of speed at a close distance.

So, whose up for this?

Chief of police reporting!!

National Guard Commander ready to not be at all prepared for this level of responsibility.

Mayor prepared to force the last remnants of mankind into a short-lived dystopia valiantly hold together the last bastion of civilization.

BB where have you been??? Is Agorath dead

OK, so can we make separate character not on the city council.

In, probably as someone shady. Maybe a strange old man.

National Guard officer and Afghan war vet reporting for duty!

It is known being hippie is the number one cause of zombies

Also will we be given stats depending on our roles when the game starts
E.g as the national Guards Lackey second in command would I be given our unit comp, size, and ammunition

Sounds pretty cool, BB. I'd like to claim the Hospital Director (I think I've watched enough TV to have a rough understanding of modern medicine :p).

Bishop what are you going to change on future map drafts
Also can we create our characters yet, with a bio sheet if they are in one of the services
