As the title says when in game(doesn't matter where, menu or running have the same result) the frame rate jumps from 144 down to ~40 on a roughly 2-3 second interval, but is compleatly stable when tabbed out. I have tried lower settings, higher settings, v-sync and no v-sync, fps limiting etc. but nothing does the trick. G-sync multiply the effect somewhat, but the same underlying issue is still there: fps jumping on an interval in game vs out. To make it clear: I have this issue with both windowed mode and fullscreen, and I tab to an app on my other screen(explorer for testing) with the game still being displayed on the main monitor the whole time.

Windows 10, gtx1080, i5 6600k@4.5ghz, 144hz monitor with and without sync.

If you disable autosaves does this still happen?

Is there a performance hit at the same time as these jumps, or are they purely cosmetic?

Has it happened ever since you've had the game, or just recent patches?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log

Disabled autosave and still the same.

I don't think there is a performance hit, well more than the response not being 100% during the dips, more like a slight stutter.

I have not followed the patching of the game, I honestly couldn't tell you, but I think it has been like this since I bought the game on the 25/10.

The game is being run on monitor 1, 1440p.

25/10 is after the most recent patch, FYI.

In those files Vsync is off and the framerate cap is 144 - essentially the same effect as having Vsync on in fact. What if you cap framerate in the game to 60, does this still happen?

The issue persisted with changing the FPS-lock. What is strange is that it is now completely gone. I haven't updated drivers and I don't think there has been an update? The only thing remotely related that has happend on my end is I had to change the monitor/desktop resolution back to 1440p after it changed due to launching an older game(Pharaoh). I don't know if this is what has "fixed" it, but I mean as long as I'm not affected I can't really complain.

Well, the game has not changed since you posted so unless this is a Windows or nVidia update ... ? Anyway, I hope it stays that way!
