It is April 1st, and we have launched attacks on almost all fronts. Eastern Germany is mostly defend by a handful of Hungarian troops and German units. Germany has pulled off troops that they had defending Denmark, and I've been able to make limited gains there. Germany is 60% near surrendering. Belgium and Netherlands have helped me make gains in the west, but our biggest gains have been in the Southwestern part of Germany. It is there where German lacks troops and have gaps in their lines. We are trying to make gains there. However, for all our gains, our manpower is down to 5. We are likely to run out of manpower either this month or next month. Even if we run out of manpower, we can keep fighting, but our units won't reinforced. Cutting off supplies from Berlin is the only way we can see of achieving victory!

There were rumors of a heavy tank in the area, but we were able to confirm it. It is near Berlin. A heavy tank division fights it out with infantry divisions who are ill-equipped to handle it. Luckily France has built its own Heavy tank, and we will bring it to the field as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will need to outflank the Germans and Hungarian forces in East German if we have any hope on this front.

Japan has appeared again in Asia, but I sent my puppet to handle them. In Europe I'm running a deficit of -84.1 manpower. As a result, we are forced to change up our plans. Currently we are trying the tactic of holding and shifting in which we assign one unit to hold a postilion, and then shift the rest of them in an attempt to flank and overwhelm an enemy. So far we have had some success with that plan. We have been pushed back in Denmark, but we are currently holding. We currently have 4 heavy tanks in eastern Germany, but we will need to wait until their organization is maxed out before we attack, we also need to wait as a result of our manpower shortage. Finally, we have captured a little of Czech's land, so we are hoping to liberate them.

From May 25th to May 26th, 3 divisions of French troops fought a lone German troop defending Berlin. We have defeated them, and two of the three French units are rushed to capturing the capital before Berlin is saved by other German units in the area. If they are no reinforcements, we will capture it on June 1st, 1940. It is believed that if we captured Berlin, then the war is over. Hopefully we are correct, as we are currently -100 in manpower. Our army size is currently 757k. In Jan it was 834k. We are currently 77k in the hole. Although surrounding it might be possible, we are worried we don't have the troops or the manpower to hold for 30 days.

120997679_10214372658230142_3572853131898927439_n.jpg

On May 27th, a German troop was able to get to the city before we captured it. We were able to capture it soon after on May 28th. Germany's surrender is now at 96.60%!

It has been reported that before we could reach Berlin, the leaders of Germany fled south to Wein. They will be able to stay there as we won't be able to capture their second capital for some time. However, we might be able to win soon anyway.

I like that, if I'm reading this last map right, Hitler has apparently fled to his home country and is setting up shop in Wien. Seems an appropriate demise that he should lose while watching his homeland fall with his own eyes.

Looks like you could also cut off a nice little chunk of German forces up in the Northwest portion of Germany, and pin them against the North Sea.

Do you have any divisions that you might be able to disband that are tied up elsewhere? Or is the entire Armee D'Terre in Germany proper?

My whole army is in German proper.

It is June 1st of 1940. It is believed the Allies will defeat Germany by either this month or the next month.

Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven are both under attack, and it is believed that if either fall, then Germany will be forced to surrender. The French army is currently 742K. It will take at least 4 months to recover from the damage that was inflicted onto us from this war. However, defeating Germany will not end the war, as Hungary is still alive. Although, it is believed Hungary will not be able to stand up to our might.

121003106_10214372658510149_2116903330733698197_n.jpg

We won the battle of Wilhelmshaven, and our troops are races to capture it. It will take until June 8th to capture it! On June 2nd we won the 2nd battle of Wilhelmshaven and we won the battle of Hamburg. We are currently fighting the 3rd battle of Wilhelmshaven. The Axis are fighting tooth and nail to not give up their last victory point.

At 7 in the morning on the 3rd of June in 1940, the tank commander Juin, entered the city of Hamburg. With its capture, the major powers within the Axis alliance realize that it is over, and decide to sign the peace treaty which puts them under our control. However, Von Falkenhorst and his men attempted, in vain, to recapture the city before the day is over, but it is too late.

On the 4th of June in 1940, the major powers of the Axis alliance surrendered to the Allies.

Italy's submarine of 4 surrendered to the allies, as they had no army or airforce left at this point. Japan still had 107K military units shattered about on their islands, and a navy of 48, along with an air force of 18. If Japan had some way of getting their units to their Allies, it is unlikely we could've won as soon as we did. Germany surrendered with 641k men on the field, along with 50 aircraft, and 18 navy ships.

All that stands in our way for peace is Hungary with an army of 108K strong and 7 aircraft. They will fall before the year is out.

As Hungary troops were in Germany, they were easily cut off and surrounded once Germany surrendered to the Allies. There was barely any resistance to our French tank commanders to simply march down and capture Hungary's capital.

On June 25th of 1940, the guns fall silent across Europe. France and the UK have been at war since July 2nd of 1937. For nearly three years they fought against Japan, Italy, Germany, Ethiopia, and Hungary. Now, it is over. With most of Hungary's troops in former Germany land, they were easily cut off and surrounded once Germany fell. It wasn't until June 24th, 1940, Armingeat, a tank commander, entered the city of Budapest. It took 25 days to defeat Hungary, but the war is over. Peace will last...for now.

As France is in peacetime, its manpower growth decreases, so it will take a long time to recover the damage lost in the war. The Allies currently control 53.2% of the victory points and the Comintern control 14.70%. However, with France badly damaged from the war with the Axis, it will need to find an alternative route to resist any communists advances into Europe. There are three goals France wishes to achieve during this 2nd Interwar period. 1. Gain as many alliances as possible to counter the spread of communism. 2. Achieve as many Victory conditions as possible. 3. Develop a weapon more powerful than has ever been seen before.

Even if France wishes to declare war on the Soviet Union now, its neutrality is too high. If our victory conditions are meant by 1942, then war with Soviet Union might be avoided. However, if we don't reach them by 1942, then not to worry, because our secret weapon will be in the works. It won't be developed until 1945, but it will be worth it.

On Jan 17th of 1942, the Soviet Union declares war on Poland, and the Allies declare war on the Soviet Union as a result. As the war is so large, I'm forced to divided my army in two and have one front fight the Russians in Europe, another to fight them in Asia. Over the intern period, I worked to get Romania and Poland closer to the Allies, along with Bulgaria.

120966909_10214372662070238_5561308714140981193_n.jpg

Given my lack of manpower (20), I focused on getting my tech as advanced as possible and my officer ratio to 140% so I win battle as quickly as possible. By courting Poland and Romania, I hope to create a front that I can fight Russia directly with. If Bulgaria joins my Alliance, then we win by victory conditions, but that won't be until 1943. In the meantime, I have to defeat the Russians. After Poland and Romania join the Allies, I will then work to get Afghan, Yugoslavia, and Persia into my alliance.

It is Jan 18th of 1942. As Poland hasn't joined our alliance yet, we will focus on the Asian front until they do. Our goal is to puppet Mongolia and Tannu Tuva as they the Soviet's puppets and we will need them to help supply our push into the Soviet Union from the East. Our hope is to push as far as we can to the east to help us in the west. Once Poland and Romania join the Allies, we can fight on the west. As our manpower is low, we will have to be careful. We are going to attack the lone Russian unit that is sitting on their island before we launch out attack on the Russian port (Vlad).

Ahahaha this is a great example of the game mechanics working out hilariously for the amusement of the readAARship.

This is almost certainly the single boldest, most utterly insane battle plan I have ever seen anyone put together and present with a straight face in the history of HoI3.

And I said that before I saw the second part immediately below this.

Best of luck to you, you're certainly going to need it but I have more faith in your own skills than the ability of the AI...

On Jan 26th, we won the battle to capture the Russian port! Vladivostok. Over the course of the war we are working to lower the national unity of Russia, this will help us win sooner.

It is Feb 1st of 1942. The weather and the terrain has been slowing the movement of our troops, but this isn't too bad. At least it means we won't take too much damage in the meantime, as we need to get our manpower back. Currently we gain 37.3 manpower per month. The Soviets are likely gaining 41.1 per month. At the very least, Poland has pushed back the Soviets, I bet they didn't expect that! Belgium and the Netherlands are rushing to meet us at the front lines. Capturing the port in the eastern front has caused the Soviet's surrender progress to increase to 7.40%. It helps that we have dropped the Soviet's national unity down to 79.1%.

It is March 1st, 1942. In Europe, the Russians have made some gains into Poland, but most of my allied units are now in position to block them from advancing. My units are still taking time to get into position, but many tanks have done well against the Russian army. I only have 9 tanks and 10 heavy tanks, so I do have to be careful. I don't control the air, so the Russian air force have been pounding away at my troops. However, if we are careful, then manpower shouldn't be an issue. The real issue is if my allies can take the pounding as they lack the ability to regain manpower at the speed I can.

121010346_10214372663230267_1730781423581387736_n.jpg

We have seen great success in the Asian front. The Russians and their allies are ill prepared to handle me and my ally's army. However, supply and terrain are going to be annoying as I go further. I'm trying to grab ports to help with this issue. However, as my closest unit to moscow from the eastern front is still 5214kms away, and they move at 4KPH, that means even if I don't meet any resistance, it would take 55 days of none stop marching before I reach Moscow. In other words, it will take until May of 1942 before they reach Moscow at the earliest....which is very unlikely. I predict we will reach Moscow in either November of 1942 or Summer time of 1943 from the eastern front. It might take us that long to reach it on the western front given there are nearly 2 million enemy units on this front alone. We will see what happens in the coming months.

It is March 28th, 1942. The Battle of Novohrad Volynskyi: 9,385 vs 53,300 is the odds I'm sometimes fighting against in these battles. I'm doing well, but my org is weakening. Eventually my movement on the western front will need to come to a halt so my troops can recover.

A bold plan to take down the Soviets. Puppeting Germany into the Allies with that still huge army and Air Force of theirs at the peace could have been handy against the Soviets, but I guess you get access the the conquered (reduced) MP, IC and LS instead. A US entry would be handy, even if any assistance is mainly in the form of lend lease.

A US entry would be handy, but by opposing the deal, the US's neutrality is still near 100. Even if I didn't oppose the deal, Japan is no more, so no nation to attack the US. Finally, because the US is far away from the Soviet Union, increasing the threat of the Soviet Union would have little impact on the USA.

Puppeting Germany would be nice, but it causes headaches for diplomacy since Germany still acts as if it is an Axis power, so it influences nations to the Axis sphere. If I wanted Germany on my side, installing Democracy would be the best option. However, I usually install Democracies when I play as a Democratic nation, at least when possible, so this time I just wanted to conquer nations. Finally, the last reason I didn't wish to puppet or install democracies in Germany, is that it would then allow the Soviet Union to trigger its events, since they are only triggered when the Soviet Union is at war with Germany.

It is April 1st, 1942. The Soviet's National Unity is down to 77.1%, and their surrender progress is now 15.30%. On the European front, the Russians have lost all land they grabbed from Poland, and we have attempted encirclements, but it appears that only one will succeed. I have troops in Romania, so Romania will be safe from an invasion from the Russians. By holding my troops behind the river, the Russians are forced to keep their troops there or fear me overrunning them. Given how low my manpower is (45), my plans of invading crimea via a naval invasion will be need to put on hold as I don't have the troops needed to invade it.

In the Asian front, we are doing well against the Russians and their allies. I have captured all ports I need for my advance into Russia. After I captured the ports, I will also capture the airfields to prevent the Russians from using their air force on the Eastern front. Much ground as been captured on the Eastern front, and a few Russian troops are attempting to avoid encirclement. However, I believe I will encircle them, which will free up some of my troops. I'm still attempting to influence Bulgaria, Persia, Yugoslavia, and Afghanistan to join the Allies. However, they won't join until 1943, but when they do, they will bring more troops into the fight and open up another front onto the Russians.

It is May 1st of 1942. We are doing well on both fronts. Our Allies are helping us hold the line in Europe while I go on the attack. In addition, in the east, we have captured the capital of mongolia in April, but they refuse to become our puppet. One last important city to go before they are puppeted. On the other hand, Russia is gaining 60.5 monthly manpower, and they have 2233 manpower. We currently only get 37.9 manpower per month, and we currently only have 26 manpower. Their national unity is currently 76.1%, and they have 15.50% surrender progress. In October, 1942, we will then start being able to build a nuclear reactor. It is one of the steps we need before we can build a nuke.

It is June 1st of 1942. My manpower is down to 7, and there are reports that it will be gone by the end of this month. Likely I have a ton of allies to depend on, and I'm working to get more allies along with working to develop the bomb. In the West, we have been making gains, while hold defense lines along the river bank.

In the Asian Front, my advance has slowed to a crawl as they are forced to cross mountains. It says it will take until 1945 before they get across the mountains. Russians also have sent a tank over to this front, so it is clear they are determined to hold this front. The only good things I can report is that I'm still researching nuke tech, my spies are lowing the national unity of Russia (they are currently down to 73.80% and their surrender process is 20.70%), and we are still influencing nations. This war will easily drag onto 1944 at this rate.

August of 1942. It is currently a stalemate on the European front, which is a good thing for me. My allies are currently building up their armies, so that will help increase our numbers against the Soviets. However, the Soviets have an endless supply of men. At least the Soviets lack the industry and leadership to turn that manpower into anything.

On the Asian front, Russia has sent over 3 tanks. I have no tanks nor anti-tanks of my own as I didn't expect to be fighting any tanks over here. I've been using my aircraft on this front to help against the tanks, because I've taken all the airfields in the area, so Russia can't send their aircraft to counter my own. Although my manpower is limited, I might have to train up more units to help me on the Asian front.

On the Asian front, with Mongolia on my side (in they Allies, but aren't at war with the Soviet Union), I have a shot of puppeting both Sinkiang and Tannu Tavu. With both of them on my side, Russia will either be forced to bring more troops to defend the Asian front or risk being overwhelmed. In the meantime, I'm building tactical bombers to help me.

120996712_10214372666310344_3267015100769585225_n.jpg

It is October 3rd of 1942. We have captured the city of Vitsyebsk on the European front. It is another victory point which pushes the Soviet Union toward surrendering. In the Asian front, we are nearing the capitals of Tannu Tuva and Sinkiang, and we are surrounding quite a few Russians and Sinkiang units. With them gone, there will be lose troops for the Soviets to use to defend this front. My tactical bombers have done well to weaken the Russian army on this front. I'm currently at 30 manpower, so it appears this new plan I've created is working out for me.

In October, 30k enemy units were surrounded and killed in the Asian front. We puppeted Sinkiang in October 21st, and we are working to build the nuclear reactor in October 20st of 1942. By June 6th of 1943, we will have our first nuclear reactor built! We might have our first nuke built by 1944 at the rate we are going. With Mongolia and Sinkiang now part of the Allies, we have now gained 145,000 troops on the Asian front. Even if their troops aren't strong, they will provide numbers to help us against Russia when they join the war.

On November 1st of 1942, Tannu Tuva became out puppet. With that, another 24,000 troops have been added to our alliance. That's 169,000 troops we have taken away from the Soviets. With that, the Soviets have no allies left. Our progress will slow once winter hits, so I don't expect much movement until spring of 1943.

I haven't attacked on the European Front as the Soviets have a tough defense to break through. On the Asian front, because of winter, my troops aren't moving very far. However, my manpower has increased to 68, and I have researched night fighting equipment, so we will do better at night. Once I have my nuclear reactors up, I will focus on building units to add to my existing units to make them much tougher. It likely won't happen until 1944, but we shall see. For some reason, neither I nor the British are unable to have the newly acquired puppets to join the war against the Soviets. Normally we are able to, but not this time. Still, they have lost a decent chunk of units on their Asian front.

On December 21st, 1942, Bulgaria joins our alliance. With them in our alliance, they bring in 149,000 troops to help us in our fight, and they are at war with the Soviet Union. We can now start working on bringing more nations into our alliance.

On Jan 1st, 1943, the Allies achieve victory via victory condition. However, given that would be anti-climatic, we will continue playing until the Soviet Union is finished. After that, we will conclude the end to this game. Currently the Russians have a surrender progress of 25%, and their national unity is 68.2%. We are still influencing other nations into our alliance, and they will join this year!

In this game I decide to continue until the Soviets are finished instead of ending it when I meet victory conditions. However, I'm curious about when people feel that an AAR has overstayed its welcome.

A large fraction of the membership on this board follow a HoI2 AAR which was started 15 years ago and updates at a slower than real life pace, currently being up to I believe sometime in 1938 although time is arguably an illusion. You're not likely to overstay your welcome anytime soon.

On Jan 20th of 1943, Persia joins our alliance, and they bring their 47,000 troops in our war with the Soviets. With Persia now in the fight, another front has been opened up against the Russians: the Middle Eastern front! Iraq, Bhutan, and Nepel can now bring their troops to the fight. Russia is in be trouble as their forces will now be stretched thin trying to fight this many fronts.

Eastern front!

It is Feb 1st, 1943, and the European front is still a stalemate. Our flanking them is needed as a head on attack would be costly.

In the Middle East, Persia is taking land from Russia as they have no troops defending the Middle East, except for troops near Turkey. Iraq is moving up troops to defend Persia from those troops.

On the Asian front, it appears to be an open front as I don't really see many troops over here. I'm trying to move some of my troops to link up with Persian troops who are fighting in the Middle East.
