Hey for some reason all the waterways (e.g. oceans, lakes, etc.) have their names in french despite my options for language in the game being english and all the dialog boxes and countries' names are in English.

I tried turning off all the mods to see if any of them were trigger it but this bug seems to be present in the vanilla game as well.

Any tips or tricks to fix this?

Disabling mods does not remove effects they have already had on the save game file. If you start a new test campaign does this still happen?

If so, Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Victoria3 or Documents Victoria3 locations, before installing again.

Hello! The French names on the map are a feature of the map skin that accompanies Voice of the People DLC pack. You can disable it by disabling "Voice of the People Theme" in the launcher DLC section! It is separate from the DLC (Voice of the People) itself so the theme can be safely disabled if you prefer the base one.
Best regards!

So I deleted the game as instructed and re-installed it. That worked but then the issue came back after exiting and entering the game again.

I'm not quite sure how to select Vocie of the People Theme, I dont seem to have this as an option and nothing happens when I disable the vocie of the people pre-order.

@PDX_Sosanna I don't see the VotP theme there either ... where can this be done exactly?

Hi! For 1.4 version of the game the map skin selection was moved from being a selectable DLC to the "Theme" selector in-game. You can access it from the main menu near the Settings buttons!
