Not sure if this has been asked, but can I use the new leader/minister portraits from DH into HOI2Arma? I've seen some of the new leaders in DH and I want to put them into HOI2Arma by copying and pasting the portraits into the GFX folder. This is probably an obvious question, but can I do this without the portrait looking a grey X?

If i'm right DH use other ID's like Arma. in Arma there are L01 for leaders and M01 for ministers, in DH just 01.
If you want to use the new leader-pics you have to modify the minister .csv-file

No. Commanders and ministers are handled separately by the game. You have to wait for another minister to become available either by event the "wakes" him or when his start year is reached (that's checked on January 1st each year).

Does the game have randomly generated commanders? Is it possible to have, say, a randomly generated lowly commander and have him fight battles and gain experience, have him rise in ranks to lead major units?

For example, a minor admiral of some forgotten convoy raiding group, helping and winning battles to rise by late game as one of the top admirals of the entire navy?

There are random leaders indeed, but these do not gain experience, cannot be promoted and are lost immediately after removing them from command.

That has no sense, why they don't have experience?

I have simple Question: can I play any nation somehow? Also, if yes then can I play any nation from saved game? I thought I can until I realized there are just flags to choose country and not the map like in HOI3 for example.

I launched a naval port strike. the fleet engaged and the first battle ended, it gave me the results. minimal damage on my fleet. When I try to engage immediately with a new naval port strike with the same fleet, it just sits there doing nothing. help?

Probably it doesn't have enough organization.

Oh i feel so dumb now, 2 ships out of 24 had critical org. all the others had close to maximum. i'm such a newb at naval warfare. thank you.

do trade agreements lead to better relations over time? e.g. increasing the relations by 1 point per week (or whatever) as long as a trade agreement with another country exists? Is there any formula for this? Is this moddable?

They do, up to a maximum of +50. Not sure what the formula is, however.
