The French Empire is strong. She intends on staying that way. We rpefer strength through peace, but are prepared to enfoce peace through war. We decline Austria's offer of Artois for $500,000 at this time. However, we would be willing to negotiate a different deal.

1492 - 1519
Like an eaglet needs to be fed nutrional meat in order to grow strong, fly above the clouds and shred her prey with her sharpened talons, so does Austria need to absorb minor states in order to grow into an Empire that can wield power over her adversaries.
The Austrian Empires foreign policy is one of expansion, for it is believed that if we are not doing so, then we are an Empire in decline. We expand so that we are better able to withstand against the evil hordes of the Ottoman Empire and her new ally Poland. For an enemy of my enemy is my friend, but a friend of my enemy is my enemy.
Thus during this period Austria fought in some minor wars and gained some minor lands and vassalized some others. One of the highlights of this period was the 1,597,000 ducats Venice paid for peace in June 1499 after a long war of 7 years. However the pinnacle for the Empire was the slaughter of Sultan Selîm I Yavuz 5/5/4/1 and his entire army in Steiermark 1513 at the hands of Von Frundsberg 3/4/5/2 and the subsequent 200,000 ducats the infidels paid for peace, victory is sweet. I continue to encourage all good and upright nations to aid me in the expulsion of the Turk from Europe.
Other actions of note:
During this time some provinces bordering France were sold to King Stonewall in a bid to gain his support against the infidels.
The Tsar of Muscovy must be congratulated for crushing the heathen nations of Kazan and the Golden Horde, may many more heathens fall by his sword.
It was only just realised that the small backward nation of Sweden had not only broken the shackles of oppression from Denmark, but had her in utter despair, leaving her with her capital only, for how much longer we ask?

The reigns of Charles VIII and Francois I were peaceful and psosperous for the French Empire. France promoted tax collectors in all her provinces and by June 1493, all French citizens were supporting the government through modest taxation. Charles began a policy of taking power out of the hands of the nobility and into the hands of the intelligent and the ambitious. The result was an increase in the performance of our merchants in CoT's around the world. He also bagan a policy of giving more freedom to the lower classes, which resulted in an increased bounty from French farms and French industry. The government was also more centralized giving the monarch more power to imlement French policy.
In foreign affairs France entered into a vassalization of Savoy in 1499, right after the province of Calais was purchased from our friends in England. In 1504, we annexed the Gaelic region if Brittany in northwestern France. The addition of the wealthy Brittany region will long serve French interests in the future.
Around that time, we pressed our claims in southern Italy, gaining internationally recognized claims on Naples, Apulia, and Milan. In 1507, we annexed Naples following a war began by our ally, the Holy Father, who took Apulia in the peace deal. A agreement with the Vatican has been reached whereby all Vatican lands will pass to France and French protectorates. This deal will be concluded in 1524.
In other foreign news, we have concluded an agreement with the Emperor of Vienna that will ensure peace between our nations for generations. The Emperor has agreed to sell enspecified holdings for an undiscolsed sum of money and other terms. To date, the provinces of Luxembourg and Franche Comte have been turned over with other lands scheduled for transfer in 1524 and 1530.

My dear King of France, there is some kind of mistake, a typo or misinformed ambassador at your royal court. For the Pope himself in his very person and in the the presence of the Roman peoples proclaimed that all his lands are to be put into the strong and capable hands of the Kings of the Austrian Empire for their efforts in battle against the Ottoman Turk, whereby it is Austrias duty to protect these lands from the Turk to the best of their ability. I hope that you may respect his wishes and proceed to aid Austria in her duty to the Italian peoples and indeed to the good christians of Europe.

Portugal 1492-1519
Portugal started her run to become a wealthy empire in 1492 with some monney left by the precedent king, which was used to promote bailiff and start colonisation of the new western lands.
We reached coasts of Brazil in 1493 thx to our explorer given at begginning and started to colonize these lands.
By now only three cities have been built there due to lack of monney, not of colonists.
Then , afetr 1500, Portugal started to be interested in gainig more lands to be able to have a good colonization.
We quickly fight Benin and annex their whole land.
Then we started fighting Malacca, and had to make 2 wars in order to annex their Cot.
Our colonization continued and reached South Africa, and Eastern african Island like Mauritus.

After a series of wars and a series of money wasted Berlin had gone bankrupt, but the money brought in by the vassals was more than enough to help keep the nation stable and innovative.
Merchants and inventors helped run the troubled nation. Brandenburg looks into the future of all things to witness the days to come. Brandenburg acknowledges it has no foes outside of north germany, and gives notice that the HRE is a friend.
Contact with the HRE is ongoing to prepare themselves for the future.

Muscowy 1492-1519
Lord Ivan III, Duke of Muscowy, surveyed the map slowly. Lands are what he needed to grow but in which direction.
To the northwest lay the realm of Sweden. There could be victory here but the land is sparsely populated and of the Catholic faith. Victory could be had there but at too much cost. Maybe later.
Directly west lay the lands of Pskov and The Teutonic Knights. While Pskov would be a nice addition, we are in an alliance and one just does not break an alliance for no reason. The Teutons also could be taken but that might bring us into conflict with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Lithuania was of prime concern. A large, populous kingdom with a good army, any moves Muscowy made would have to be made with one on this place. We are not strong enough to challenge them at this time even though they hold some of our Russian brethren under their sway.
South east offered the best chances of advancement. Here were the remnants of the Mongols, broken into the two hordes of Kazan and the Golden Horde. These states were weak and ripe for the picking. Also, not only were they weak, but the Russian people had long had a fear of the Mongols. This could be used to rally the country for war.
So, our armies were moved and war against Kazan was declared. Our armies quickly defeated the Mongols. Unfortuneately, or good fortune depending on your view, the Mongols were able to take and annex the country of Ryazan before we had their provinces under control. This gave us the pretext to take the provinces of Tambow and Ryazan from Kazan as well as a large cash indemnity. Kazan was annexed by the Golden horde shortly afterward.
After a short pause to gather our strength, Muscowy declared war on the Golden Horde. This war was almost laughable. All GH armies were swept aside with ease and Muscowy relieved the horde of the provinces of Kazan, Ufa, and Samara.
After building tax collectors in our newly won lands, we again declared war on the Golden Horde. This time, saratow and uralsk was siezed. GH had been reduced to their capital of Volgagrad and they were soon annexed by Astrakhan.
On the domestic side, all conquered territory was improved by the appointmnet of tax collectors. This vastly improved the finances of the realm. This allowed us to fund a missionary trip to Kazan to show them the error of worshiping Islam.
Eevn though many good thiunga happened in this time, there were some worrying signs. The increased cooperation between Poland and Lithuania is a very great concern. Also, the expansion of the Ottomans to the Eastern shore of the Black Sea could mean conflict with them down the road.

This was an interesting period for the French Empire. In 1522, a hardy seaman called Verrezano pettioned the French throne for money to explore the oceans to the west and south aroud Africa. France acknowledged the request and to further enhance his probabilty of siccess, France purchased resupply rights from the Portugese Crown for the long journey around Africa. Verrazzano explored the Western coast of Africa, some islands along the coast, South Africa, and up the Cape Horn. He made landfall at the Suez and in Isfahan before succombing to illness off the coast of western India. His explorations laid the groundwork for French economic expansion in the wealthy lands in and aroundthe Indian Ocean.
France, at the ebhest of the Austrian King, sped up the transfer of the Austrian lowlands. The provinces of Brabant and Artois were transferred immediately for a cost of 600,000 ducats with the remaining 300,000 to be paid around 1525. The provinces of Bourbonais were incorporated into the Kingdom around 1530 as well as the province of Apulia formerly held by the Pope in Rome. The Holy Father formally acknowledged his recognition of French claims when he agreed to a vassalization.
Militarily, the French Empire proved its superiority on the battlefields of Europe. Armies led by the Duke of Guise assisted our Austrian neighbors with an uprising in Germany. The state of Cologne became vassalized to the French Crown during this period.
In foreign affairs, the Spanish finally grew a backbone and began making threats to the French Crown. The hypocrisy of the Spanish is astounding. They complain about French expansion in Europe when all but 1 province has been acquired peacefully and with the consent of Austria. Meanwhile, their minions in Vienna are annexing military everything in sight and the Spanish themselves had subdued an entire continent. France will not allow its policy to be dicatated by a hypocrite in Madrid. If Madrid has problems with French policy, he knows where to find us.
In 1532, a new explorer named Cartier set out to explore the uncharted waters. He found trading cetners in Ganges and Mallacca, and Shanghai. He charted the North American coastline as well as the eastern Caribbean. Those lands inhabited by a few dozen Spaniards would make excellent additions to the French realsm should Spain continue to rattle their sabres in Europe. Cartier is currently charting the coast of South America for the Frenahc Cartographic Assiciation.
France hopes to continue the long peaceful relationship we have had with our Austrian and English neighbors. While we welcome peace with Spain, we will not be bullied by the false security of a gold based economy.

Portugal 1519-1545
We started the game with an agreement with Stonewall the great leader of France. Manuel gave him military access for some monney and a treaty of friendship.
In 1519, Manuel of Portugal was still in war against the evil malaccian, but we succeded in Beating them quickly and annexed their cot.
His fleet, coming near to Malcca took the rest of the army to get near chineese lands, where he had heard ,despite of big armies raisin, he could manage to pick a small and rich part of their land. The cot of Shangai was annexed in 1520.
After this and being in war during a lot of years, something like 5 years, we had a lot of badboy, and suffered some revolts. Zanzibar was freed as Benin who declared their independance from our country but had no troops to handle.
After a couple of months, Spain offered us some money to continue our colonization, and during the whole period we manage to build 4 more cities in Brazil an improve our income by 15 ducats /a month.
Then we started investing in trade in our cots placed all over the world.
We manage to improve the trade income from 10 to 30 with a few trader sent.
WHile we were doing this, our explorer dicovered Austrialia and MAnuel decided to colonize the entire area.
Ganges was annexed after an epic war of our 6000 army and we could say Portugal rules any cots east of Table...

Night and day Frundsberg's artillery battered Venetos mighty defenses, before they submitted, were vassalized and latter happily agreed to join the Austrian Empire and the fight on Islam.
Wurtenburg and Baden happily joined the Austrian Empire.
Austria declares war on Venice and her allies Poland and Lithuania. Temporary insanity of the Austrian king (dropped one year). Enemies overun much territory before Venice is vassalized and the war ends.
Ottoman Empire declares war on Hungary during our Venetian/Polish conflict. Austria was unable to help at this time as the Poles and Lithuanians were causing some problems.
Six refineries built.
Ottoman Empire declares war on Austria a short while after peace with Venice. The Turks fight an exceptional campaign and held a manufactory in progress to ransom. Spain aids Austria greatly.
Austria declares war on Poland and her ally Lithuania during which a load of German minors plus Helvetia and Friesland declare war on Austria. Danzig, Silesia and some ducats are gained. France aids the Austrian Empire by attacking the disobedient German minors. Mainz gained, the Palainat vassalized.
Venice happily joins the Austrian Empire and the fight on the infidel and her cronies. Austria now commands a powerful mediterranian war fleet.
Ottoman Empire suggests offering Hungarian provinces for money, then shortly declares war after I had explained I dont have any money and was therefore not interested. Spain joins Austria's alliance and her war on the Turks, then suggests thats its better to pay, then promptly offered to do so. Magyar, Maros, Croatia and Pest are gained. Again Spain aids Austria greatly.

- Austria again thanks the French for aiding Austria against her German enemies, as according to the earlier agreement encompassing the land sales. We are on friendly terms with the French.

I regard this aid that was granted as no small thing. We are on exceptional terms with the Spanish and are indebted.

Dear kings, i would like to inform you Portugal is soon going to annex sommore land in africa.
This will improve our general income and a bit our manpower.But there is a remainin problem which is how i am going to do to convert all those pagans.

Kingdom of Brandenburg

It has been a struggle my brothers, it has been a sweet struggle toward the fullness of our Kingdom. We have seen war after war, we have felt the struggle toward peaceful growth. Our neighbors war us and trouble themselves to fight us. We have the fought the Polish, Germans, and slaughtered the mongrels.
Our brothers in Prussia has seen it fit to side against us, as mere vassals of another empire...
The hordes of Russia grow with our help and the Swedish have been very brotherly and kind towards us. We are ten times grateful for them. Upper Germany, Austria, has been kind to us as have the French and we are grateful for their peaceable nature.
Charge toward into the future and bring forth a new day for the Kingdom, it's vassals and wealth!

It has been a struggle my brothers, it has been a sweet struggle toward the fullness of our Kingdom. We have seen war after war, we have felt the struggle toward peaceful growth. Our neighbors war us and trouble themselves to fight us. We have the fought the Polish, Germans, and slaughtered the mongrels.

Urgent Diplomatic Dispatch to All Monarchs of Europe:
Early this morning, we recieved a notice from the Portugese Crown that the Spanish had demanded the treaty of military access between France and Portugal be cancelled or the Spanish would invade the small peaceful Portugese nation.
Treaty of Military Alliance Between Portugal and France
WHEREAS, after lengthy negotiations, it is the joint resolution of both Portugal and France that neither nation will allow Spanish bullying to affect their sovreignty and foreign policy,
WHEREAS, both Portugal and France have existed peacefully next to our Spanish neighbor without even the slightest threat of war,
WHEREAS, the Spanish see fit to threaten Portugal over a peaceful treaty of military access that only allowed French ships to dock in Portugese ports,
WHEREAS, the Spanish see fit to threaten France over territorial acquisitions in the French sphere of influence,
WHEREAS, neither Portgual nor France recognize the right of Spain to dictate our foreign policy,
WHEREAS, Portugal and France are in a unique position to assist each other agioanst an overtly agressive neighbor,
BE IT RESOLVED that Portugal and France enter freely and willingly into a treaty of Military Alliance to assist each other with the mutual defense of our respective nations.

Last 2 daceds were very hard on England. Colonial expansion in NA continued on slow pace until reformation. At that time do to religious unrest and differences in most English provinces our income become minimal preventing much of colonization. King decided to change state religion to Protestant to appease most of the English population but conversion of NA natives and Irish Catholics is very slow and costly. Stability is slowly coming up to acceptable levels and colonization gets better funding. Most of the cash still is going into conversions of Catholic and Pagan prov.
Exploration stopped as we did not fund any new explores or conquistadors. Innovation dropped to make conversion faster and our tech level is low comparing to Spain or France. We see them expanding in America and deciding what to do about it.

The King of Spain has no issues with France, and a misunderstanding appears to have arisen concerning the MA problem with Portugal. Spain expects all good Catholics to follow the Pope's decree in the ToT. If Portugal wishes to allow France to settle in Portugese land claim areas under the ToT than Spain has no issues. It is Portugal choice to give up the lands granted to them by the Holy Father. Spain just wishes France to respect the ToT and stay out of those areas granted to Spain by the Vatican.
Spain would like to thank France for taking our less fortunate neighbor under their wing. We are sure that France will be more than able to meet the task of supplying Portugal with the aid it requires to flourish.
