This is the discussion thread for Friday Night NA VII. As the name suggests we play on Friday nights beginning at 10:00 EST, and usually play until around 2:00 AM. Despite the name, participation isn't strictly limited to north Americans, but if you live far away you'll probably need a broadband connection to play with us. Also, we generally take one Friday off each month.
This game is played with a laid back attitude, and RP is encouraged. We fight limited wars for limited gains. You are also expected to announce your reasons for war and your demands when you DoW (demands are of course subject to change). Most importantly though, always respect others.
This post was made by PP, and I think it sums up our playstyle very well:
The Players:
Barca - Sweden
CC - Russia
Sterk (?)-
BlkbrryTheGreat (?) -
Stonewall - France
Strix - Spain
Habs - Perm sub
RD - Austria

Maximum 3 european provinces taken from one nation per war. CoT's count as 2. Non-European provinces count as 1/2, unfinished colonies count 1/10th. Cores count as 0.
An nation or alliance can take as many as five provinces from an alliance (but not from one nation).

Pomerania Prince said:1) Religion should play big role in your diplomacy.
2) Keep balance of power in Europe. Do not form uber alliance that can smash everyone else.
3) Do not make other player nation unplayable. good example was Poland-Russia situation 2 games back. The goal is to for all players to be able to play all the way till 1820.
4) Diplomacy between games is very important. In there you should describe your changing views on other kingdoms so there be some base for war. We are not looking for situation where Poland has good relations with Austria but is attacked by Austria at the time it is at war with Sweden or Russia. That is a opportunistic war without diplomatic base which makes the game unrealistic. At the same hand we do not expect you to tell your enemy that you will attack him next Friday. Just post in AAR thread that your nation is looking worryingly on developments in other nation and you may do something about it. ALWAYS try RPing when posting diplomacy.
5) Never call another player names or be rude, example (PP you suck or CC you don't know how to play). You can use RPing for doing it. example (Tsar of Russia thinks very lowly about Sultans ability to rule) This way we avoid people getting personal.
6) Use ARR thread for diplomacy and this thread for regular talk about game schedule, rules, votes ect.
7 There is no GM in this game. All decisions are voted by the perm players.
8) Make the game fun and interesting for every player all the way till the end. This is where diplo and balance of power comes in. It is fine to fight huge war which cost you a lot of cash and troops, defeat your enemy and then only take 1 prov or cash to keep other nation playable. Barca is very good example how to do that.
