So here it is : Part 1 : Meet the Songhai.
This is our country, a pretender to throne of Earth. Few words about it : We are in Subsaharan group, which gives us : 100% more expensive technologies, -2 monarch points (each). We also start at level 1 techs, as opposed to European 3. Now about benefits : we are despotic monarchy, which is great advantage over tribes around us. This makes our realm very stable without all those incapable ruler modifiers or tribal succesion crisis.
Enough of introduction, time to move.
We have three missions to choose, but only one looks nice : achieve religious unity. Our capital is animist, and this is unacceptable. Fortunately, animists are very fast to convert (10 months). But our diplomats cannot be idle, let them fabricate claims on our neighbours while we convert.
Timbuktu is greatest city in this part of Africa. With 14 base tax, salt and as an important centre of trade it is vital that we conquer it. The other diplomat is fabricating claim on Gobir, our first target.
Our economy is poor at the moment. We will be able to keep 6 regiments and still get some money, but we need to expand fast and hire advisors. Monarch points are most important resource therfore we must hope for good kings.
About the king ...
Damn those Africa kings die quickly, I havent even made him a general. Well, this one looks medicore. Military points are not important ATM.
We've converted Gao and finished the mission (+25 diplomatic and administartion points). Sadly there is no new interesting mission, so we just move on to Gobir.
They country is divided and they keep all their army south, except for the 1000 men in north, they are overhelmed quickly and carpet siege starts.
That was first war and probably the easiest war. Our claim on Timbuktu is finished and we need to strike at Mali before their strike. Let's make them our rivals.
Making them rivals paid off, I've got a mission with a decent reward. Coring Timbuktu will be very costly so I appreciate every AP.
We start recruiting tons of infantry, this will seriously drain our money so we must move quicky.
Guess I've picked the wrong time, as you can see their army is moving away, presumably towards rebels. Let's follow them, maybe we can pick them after they battle with rebels.
Guess I was right. Maybe this war wont be as disastrous as I though?
Now the chase begins. This will be a long trip.
They are still alive, and I must take down that stack in Gao. We cannot let them capture our capital.
Now something about piety : Islam nations get events where they can choose if they want to get piety or lose piety, Piety ranges from -100% to 100%. 100% piety gives a huge bonus to land morale (1.0) and few other bonuses. -100% piety grants us 10% cheaper technologies and bonus to national tax. I decided to go towards technology bonus, since as I said : monarch points are most important.
Back to the front : stack in Gao is defeated. We detach siege in Timbuktu and chase their main army.
Their peasants should keep them busy, we detach siege in Segu and Massina and wait.
And this is where comes my another fault. By chasing the small stack in Wasuju their main army almost destroyed my detachment at Timbuktu. I say almost because I've managed to rescue them.
This is where they run . Natives will eat them for sure. Oh, and our king died, again. New one is 4/1/0. We are at -2 stability now, nasty.
War is long but starts to look good. They still have army but we control Timbuktu, our war goal. Warscore start's rolling.
Hey, looks who's back.
The natives must have beaten them hard. This is the part where I kill them.
Yay, there we go. Now war is won, we just need to siege few provinces for warscore.
And this is it We've gained great city, razed our major enemy to the ground (see the rebels?), gained some gold and unlocked a cool mission against our third neighbour, Kanem Bornu(also knows as Elephant Country.)
End of part 1.
