FTG mods seem to be in short supply even though the modding aspect and potential has been considerably improved from EUII. I am interested in setting up a mod or group of mods that syncretise the work that has been done so far; subject it to new features available in FTG and continue improving it after that.
Specifically I had in mind more or less the following:
- Base map:
Finished maps appropriate for the early modern period are WATK 3, its modification for WATKABAOI and MyMap. WATK 4 is in development but we haven’t heard of any updates for a while.
Probably WATK 3 is the way to go at this point. szmik has already ported WATK and AGCEEP-WATK.
There are some things I would like addressed though: areas in Central Africa not explored until the mid 19th century could easily make way for the PTI in Russia.
Adding graphics of tundra, desert, jungles and mountains where appropriate in PTI would also be super and I have asked for help here.
- Events:
Luckily we already have a vast number of events at our disposal from AGCEEP. I’d like to:
• review them and implement new FTG triggers wherever possible and appropriate
• improve triggers as much as possible to remove historical outcomes whenever they don't make sense (no more being forced release Mantua as Venice when you’ve conquered all of Italy)
• add pictures to all events (so far only the Polish have been covered)
• make events less boring and more interactive
- Scenarios/Mods:
• port Matty G's Interregnum mod from EUII
• port any finished scenarios from EUII
• Garbon’s Age of Timur scenarios
• Ayeshteni's Gloriana mod
• multiplayer-dedicated scenarios
- Orient:
• revamp the Orient entirely; perhaps by using a separate Oriento-centric mod having its own interface, music, etc.
• somehow make playing China a more interesting experience than fighting rebels
• represent the historical situation in feudal Japan as much as the map permits
- Other Changes:
• implement new goods like silk, rice, dyes (woad, indigo, cochineal), brazilwood, porcelain, glass, tin, silver, saltpetre, honey, cattle, etc. I've done some of the graphics but they're probably not that good.
• new religions. Luckily, the graphics are already done.
• new cultures
It would be great if this evolved into an open/community mod in which everyone could contribute to his area of interest or expertise.
