I'm running EU2 v1.09. I've recently had an issue where the game crashes my PC shortly after starting.

I believe this to be an AGCEEP/MyMap issue, so I removed all the EU2 installs I had on my PC first using the uninstaller and then deleting the folder.

The game still crashes after a fresh install leading me to believe there is something in the registry that is causing the problem. I've asked the MyMap people for help on their end, but I was wondering if I could also get a list of all the keys that EU2 itself uses to make sure the uninstaller is getting those.

Just refer to post number 4 of the self help thread, and remove all registry entries for the game, then when you reinstall it will be a fresh entry.

Ok, I went through the listed steps - though I found nothing with the words europa or universalis in the install shield directory.

Then I reinstalled EU2 from my CD, to a new path games\eu2 instead of games\europa universalis 2, then ran the 1.09 patch.

The patch, however, has my old path as the default, indicating to me the information is still saved somewhere.

Search the registry for Paradox for Eu2 and for who ever published your game.
Also do the same with the Install shield.

I've got Strategy first's version of EU2.

Searched the install shield folder for europa, universalis, paradox, strategy. Nothing.

Looked in the registry for anymore paradox or strategy first keys in hkey_local_machine/software.

I have entries for VIC and CK which I own...and now a new key for Paradox since I just reinstalled a v1.0 version of EU2 - but that is it.

So what makes you think the patch has the old path?

The path that it defaults to, ie what it starts off with is;

games\europa universalis 2

which is a previous install of EU2 - neither what I presume that out of the box default is (strategy first\europa univeralis 2 or something like that) nor the current location of the patch exe;

games\eu2

On the plus side, I tried running the patch (to the games\eu2 directory) and it did work ok...and so far no more crashes...
