I launched my game after not having played in some time. I played in fullscreen before and everything was fine and fit well, but now it was too low and the top third of the screen was black and the game was cut off. I tried changing the resolutions and making it borderless, but it didn't really fix the issue (i made it borderless and it made everything fit correctly but the resolution was so much worse and everything was for some reason just more cramped together). I play on a 2013 MacBook pro and on Steam. I would like to know how I can either make the borderless less cramped, but more preferably fix the fullscreen issues. Thanks

I guess you are on Catalina now, as many of our games have this issue under that OS; Eu4 for instance:

Until and unless Apple fix their openGL shader compiler issues , all you can really do is juggle borderless/windowed mode, resolution, and general video settings until it works ok for you.

Or if you have Bootcamp installed, run the game under that.

Sorry about that!

Are you on Catalina now?

Borderless fullscreen is somehow working for me without issues. Here is the graphics section of my settings.txt file (2019 Macbook Pro w/ AMD graphics). My screen res is 2048x1280:

graphics=
{
size=
{
x=2048
y=1280
}

gui_scale=1.000000
gui_scale_min=1.000000
gui_scale_max=3.000000
gui_scale_font_replacement=1.010000
refreshRate=0
fullScreen=no
borderless=yes
shadows=no
shadowSize=2048
multi_sampling=2
anisotropic_filtering=0
gamma=50.000000
vsync=yes
override_resolution_safety=no
}

Where is this file located? I don't have this file in my installation directory (installed on Steam).

Thanks

This would be in your settings directory, not in your install directory. If you are in Windows, it would be in My Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II. On Mac, it would be in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II.

Thank you. Interesting that when I made the change to 2304 x 1440 there was a small bar. When I then set window mode to 'borderless' and reopened the game it now displays correctly at 3584x2240. Running on a 16" mpb w AMD 8g
