With game rules being added in the Opportunity patch, and the discussion of the Adam & Eve challenge here in the forums, I thought this would be a good time to start a thread for people to share fun challenges they've tried or are thinking about.

Here's one I'm trying now:

No Triboelectric Scrubbers

Obviously, this keeps maintenance/dust as a major threat throughout the game. And will has a bigger impact on maps with lots of dust storms/devils. What I've noticed so far is that it makes solar much more important (dust repulsion + extra panels means you can clean them in batches). Go for a map with elevation, to make an interesting trade-off with wind. Also, I actually take the lower maintenance techs now, and still worry about extractor placement / over-building past sol 100.

Dying Earth Challenge

The end is near, earth is about to die and you are humanities only hope. Up until Sol 50 you can rely on the Earth for resources, but as of Sol 50 all ships are done. The Earth has been hit with a major event that has pushed man back to the stone age, you are on your own. This means any rockets on Mars at Sol 50 should be scrapped. Also means on Sol 49 if you have money still on earth load up all the supplies you can and LAUNCH.

Can you give Mankind a new home?

I have only used the Triboelectric Scrubbers once, so that's not much of a challenge to me.

No Exports
You can import all you want with whatever funds you can get from Celebrities and the two techs that generate funds. However, you can't sell any rare metals. That means turning off the exports on your rocket(s) and not building the space elevator (unless you can turn off exports on it as well).

No Specialists
You can't bring any specialists from Earth, nor train any.

Rebel Scum
Have as many Renegades as possible by Sol 100.

Earthlings Only
Set all domes to forbid births as soon as they are built. You can only bring colonists from Earth.

BioRobot Perfection

A colony of 1000+ biorobots (no humans), with no colonists working in the wrong specialization, with everyone's needs being met (ie no recurring 'X colonists couldn't satisfy ___').

Working on this one right now. I toyed with the idea of killing off everyone with flaws that were untreatable in the sanatorium, but it was being too much hassle. might revisit it soon tho as i while away the time awaiting opportunity...
