Im thinking on wiping out a mod with a few changes to the NI that i proposed a while back, maybe to test it see how it goes.

Well, they covered Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Manchuria and Qing in the Manchu patch. So I don't see any problems with that.I doubt they would do both China and Tibet. I suspect it would be just China and pair with Tibet something else.
I wish!Well, they have winter and summer breaks that last around 2 months each
If you do end up finding time to make the mod, I'd be interested in a second opinion on the effects of three changes I'm implementing in my own mod:Im thinking on wiping out a mod with a few changes to the NI that i proposed a while back, maybe to test it see how it goes.
I'm guessing it won't change much. National ideas have a much lower impact on gameplay than people often seem to realize, with a few outlier effects like admin efficiency, or maybe stuff you need early like colonisation range (which Portugal has). There is a reason you don't see Palawa dominating every game, even though they have a killer idea set and the best units.Im thinking on wiping out a mod with a few changes to the NI that i proposed a while back, maybe to test it see how it goes.
This would totaly screw over anyone wanting to go colonizing instead.Create a dynamic event that grants Tenerife to Castile and Arguin and Cape Verde to Portugal before either country gets its first colonist
Hence why Portugal should have a bigger role on the Iberian wedding. If you do end up finding time to make the mod, I'd be interested in a second opinion on the effects of three changes I'm implementing in my own mod:
1) Delay or remove the Spanish mission granting a Restoration of Union CB on Portugal. I'm fine with Castile/Spain having a union over Portugal, but it's too easy for Spain to keep Portuguese liberty desire low and then integrate Portugal less than a century after the Iberian Wedding fires.
2) Change the starting Portuguese forts from Lisbon and Evora to Braganca and Beja. This creates a more defensible zone of control that should help Portugal fight against Morocco, Spain and France.
3) Create a dynamic event that grants Tenerife to Castile and Arguin and Cape Verde to Portugal before either country gets its first colonist. I haven't tested this very thoroughly yet, but it seems the biggest hindrance to historical Iberian colonization comes from Portugal getting Exploration ideas first (thanks to Castile's abysmal starting ruler and heir); Portugal then colonizing Tenerife before Castile and thus blocking Castile from completing its starter colonial mission and receiving the mission's colonial range bonus; and Castile then colonizing Arguin instead of something in the Americas.
But fighting off Castille with 15% Morale Tradition with Portugal 15% Trade Efficiency does make a difference at the same tech level early game.National ideas have a much lower impact on gameplay
I don't think other countries should be on equal footing with the Iberians for early colonization. I'm fine, personally, with the Italians and everyone else waiting for a few more levels of diplomatic technology to get the colonial range they need. This would totaly screw over anyone wanting to go colonizing instead.
Like a player on an Italian minor for example.
So your proposed gameplay alteration to the Iberian Wedding is to start a scripted war in which Portugal attacks Castile with the Support Rebels CB every time Castile chooses to marry the Aragonese ruler? If so, then the only two plausible outcomes I see are the Iberian Union being quickly reversed or leading to Castile gaining a PU over Aragon as well as a few of Portugal's provinces, with all three countries depleting their manpower reserves during the war.Hence why Portugal should have a bigger role on the Iberian wedding.
In the peace Treaty of Alcáçovas, everybody won: Isabella was recognized Castile's Queen (in exchange for her acquittal to the Portuguese crown and the payment of a big war compensation to Portugal: 106.676 dobles of gold)[24][124] and Portugal won the exclusive domain of the navigation and commerce in all the Atlantic Ocean except for the Canary Islands (in exchange for its eventual rights over those islands which remained to Castile). Portugal also reached the exclusive conquest right over the Kingdom of Fez (Morocco). Only D. Juana, la "Beltraneja" or "the Excellent Lady", has lost a lot as she saw her rights sacrificed to the Iberian states' interests.
The mod does not change much, except the NI, which I need to adjust, and makes England Historical Friend.
With naval invasions working properly, they might come to the rescue of Portugal more often.
But deep down i think the issues come from Iberian wedding and the lack of Portugal role on it.
Portugal should go to war vs Castille with added Juana supporters as allies for manpower.
A mod isnt going to sort inherent problems with balance in Iberia unfortunately. Its just a small bandaid.I don't think other countries should be on equal footing with the Iberians for early colonization. It was, after all, expert Italian sailors and not the resources of Italian states that aided early European exploration. I can't imagine that an Italian minor claiming Tenerife or some part of Portugal's Mare clausum would have gone over very well. Only powerful rival states got away with doing that over the centuries.

I've already set England as Portugal's historical friend in my mod and it doesn't seem to make much difference. England isn't any more likely to ally Portugal (it already did so nearly 100% of the time) and tends to be busy with France or unable to project sufficient power in Iberia to counter the combined armies of Castile and Aragon.
