Finally a Paradox game again that allows you to use console commands without hassle in the vanilla game. In good old fashion, typing 'help' gives you a list of commands.

To play as a minor faction, enter 'ids': this gives you a list of factions present in the game with their corresponding id number. Then enter 'tag [ID NUMBER]'. Tag switching multiple times seems to delete the faction you tag switched from, though.

Of course, the minor factions don't have any missions. You can also pick the Nausicaans this way, though they are even more boring.

I also tag switched over to the Klingons in a completed Federation game, and they didn't even complete their first mission: have two admirals leading two fleets, and a general leading a transport fleet. Upon closer inspection, they didn't have any generals at all. They also didn't have any scientists.

EDIT: I went back in again, as I claimed earlier the Klingons didn't have any admirals. They do have two admirals, but lack the general to complete the first mission - in the year of our Lord 2434...

Have you tag switched to the Borg?

Have you tag switched to the Borg?

I have, but it wasn't very interesting. In my Federation game, there is one immobile Borg Queen. The Borg has no resources or a way to construct anything. You can recruit leaders for free, and they have portraits. That's about it. I didn't have a save exactly when the Borg is active. You can spawn functional Borg Cubes using 'add_ship Large Borg' (case sensitive), but then they don't have any Officers, and for whatever reason you can't use the console command 'resource officers 1000' (also case sensitive) on the Borg.

You can use the add_ship console command to spawn Borg Cubes as an actual faction, though. I just annihilated the Cardassians as the Federation with two Borg Cubes. Stupid, but fun :p
