Hi!

I've enjoyed CK3 the last few weeks since launch and have clocked around 65 hours in on Steam. So I'm therefore quite certain that my pc can run the game.

The last two days however, my game have refused to launch probably, always crashing before the different loading screens even show. This is no matter if I run Steam or the game as admin, or weather I launch the game directly through the ck3.exe or Steam. I've also tried to delete the Paradox Launcher by deleting any relevant files in AppData, and reinstalling the via launching the game on Steam.

My system is running on Windows 8.1 and should be very much up-to-date. For anti-virus I'm running Bitdefender.

The only recent changes on my PC is that I updated my drivers through GeForce Experience. As far as I can see, the error.log does mentioned something about drivers not working correctly. Could reinstalling these be the solution?

Given your launcher looks weird, I'd start with the manual reinstallation of the launcher

I've tried the manual reinstall of the launcher but it does not appear to have worked. I've also done a clean reinstall of drivers for both my GPU and CPU. Windows is also up-to-date.

I'm currently doing a dxdiag and attaching the files to my initial post.

Seeing a lot of video driver issues. Are you forcing the game expliclity to use the Nvidia card using the Nvidia Control Panel?

I would use the DDU uninstaller to do a full uninstall

Someone with a similar video series as your seemed to have more success with a driver from around April 2020. So I'd try to install that one instead after the clean uninstall.

With BitDefender you need to put the game and launcher in its exceptions list, AND in its separate Safe Files feature.

Hi again!

I've now done a clean install of an NVIDIA driver from April 2020, and it seems to have solved the issue with the launcher not working probably.

The game is working fine if I run it directly through the ck3.exe, but the launcher is now showing the red warning when I try launching the game that way.

I've made sure that both game and launcher are on the exceptions list in BitDefender and that Windows Firewall doesn't block any of them.

Specifically the BD Safe Files feature?
