Game Crash on Loading Database

I followed the steps for a clean reinstall posted before but it is still stuck on the same screen. Game freezes when "loading database". Not using any mods or dlc.

I uploaded the error log if that helps.

Game was working fine before, I reinstalled steam earlier this week and tried playing CK2 and that is when I got this problem.

I get the first two lines you have in your error log but not the rest. They really look like missing files.

When you did your clean install did you make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again ?

Run a Steam Verify operation against the game, does it find anything to fix?

What antivirus app do you use? Add ck2game.exe to its exceptions list/whitelist.

Do you mean CK2 or EU4, I have EU4 downloaded so I did not delete that document. Do I need to uninstall EU4 as well for a clean reinstall?

By verify operation do you mean verify the game files? If so, yes I did but it did not help.

Update: I did another reinstall this time by deleting EU4 as well, but the screen still crashes on the load events page.

So after reinstalling again, this is the error log


[texturehandler.cpp:197]: Couldn't find texture file: gfx/models/hlup_normal.dds.

This seems to be the reoccurring error

Do you mean CK2 or EU4, I have EU4 downloaded so I did not delete that document. Do I need to uninstall EU4 as well for a clean reinstall?

Sorry, CK2, I forgot which forum I was in.

Your settings.txt is corrupted somehow, delete that.

That 'missing file' does not even exist in my system. Are you using any mods?
