When you say crash do you mean you have to reboot using the power button or you can shut down with Crtl-Alt-Del
So not sure what the problem is then, if you exit and it Exits to desktop, is that no WAD?

Do you have 1.2 installed correctly, I seem to remember this being a problem with earlier versions.
Okay, if you have a save close to the end that can reproduce the error, then please file a bug report.
