Game Crashed As Soon As Campaign Starts

Like the title says, game crashes immediately after the game starts, within seconds I get the "This Program has stopped working"

I am running:

WIN 7 32 bit
2 Gig RAM
9800GTX Nvidia

I have done the DEP and Visual; themes bit and downloaded off steam, no idea what patch it is.

Any advice would be great.

I just checked DL patch notes version 1.06.

I have most Paradox games on the HDD and this is the first that has not worked, I am a massive fan, please don't leave me disillusioned!

Ok so I have updated Nvidia drivers, still no luck, I can start to sail around but it crashes very quickly.

Battles are fine, I am playing privateer so if I find a fleet quickly I can battle, but if not it crashes.

I just purchased the game. I have registered the game. I can't play it either. All system requirements are met. Very soon I am going to return this game and lodge a complaint somewhere. Why pay to watch the opening movie and not be able to play. Same error as yours. Any help is appreciated.

You can download the latest patch here. Try to update your graphic card drivers. Please also provide more details about your computer and post here the log.html from the folder the game is installed to.

I am running Win 7 with brand new drivers.

DL the Steam copy of both the games. Can't use you link, tried a few days ago and says its not installed.

I see nothing wrong with your system specs and the game should work with win7 even though we don't officially support it. Random crashes you're experiencing are often caused by gfx drivers (try to up/downgrade the drivers and see if it helps) or hardware issues such as overheating or bad memory chips. Does your other games work ok?

One thing you could try is to change the game language to english from Steam if you use french or german version.

Which version number you see in the main menu?

I have the most recent GFX drivers, all other games work, I have a million fans in the case so no overheating problems.

I use the English version.

Directors Cut is the version I see in the main menu.

Thanks for getting back to me. Any other ideas on the crash? I have changed all the graphics settings in game to lowest and highest to no avail.

The version number should be at the upper right corner of the main menu. The latest version is 1.12, but I'm not sure if it is available through Steam at the moment (it should be available soon).

I'd try to downgrade the gfx drivers to see if it makes any difference.

Ok I have 1.12 and still no luck.

I will uninstall the game and tell everyone I know not to bother for a few years I think, I have not had this many dramas with a game since trying to run DOS games on a Win 95 machine, it is truly ridiculous!

Don't buy this game people!

Sorry to hear about your problems with the game crashing. I had a similar problem with the game crashing about 90% of the time I entered a sea battle. I did this...

Issue:
Application doesn't start. Videos are displayed but when the main menu should be displayed the game crashes.

Possible solutions:
Open the options.txt file in a text editor ( the file is located in the folder Documents/East India Company/Config ). In the graphics block use these values:

It worked and I found out that when the battle had islands and not just open sea it would crash. I made this change and haven't had a crash yet due to this issue. Hope this works for you.

Oh, one more thing, make sure your have the latest patch for the Directors Cut installed too

Ok, so I have since replaced everything except the video card and I am still having errors and crashes. Worst money ever spent!!!

Will have another crack when I get a new video card... Whenever that is!
